A friend is having a naming ceremony for her child who is turning 1. She said it is something they do instead of Christening the child since they are Atheists. I haven't ever heard of this before - have you?

I have heard of it, but for me it's a Jewish tradition. Not that your friend can't do it with little to no religious undertones.

Yup. I've heard of it has a Jewish tradition and a non religious celebration as well.

It's become pretty popular among the non religious - naming ceremony, or family blessing ceremony, or babywarming.
