No, only at the house. I parked her in her car seat today and grabbed the laundry from her room before and threw it in the washer (which is in the garage) before leaving. I'm way too paranoid to leave her when we're out.

Given she's only 3 months old but we've yet to do it. And I don't foresee myself doing it. I'm way too paranoid.

I've never done it with either kid, even at our house in our own driveway. I'm super paranoid about leaving the kids alone in the car!

Never at home. At the grocery store, when I was still really weak from my c-section, I'd park by the cart area, leave the car on (with a/c), and run to get the cart. Then I'd put the baby in it and turn off and lock the car.
In retrospect, someone else really should have been doing the grocery shopping at that point.

Last time I went grocery shopping I unloaded my groceries in the car put her in her car seat and then ran and put my cart away. It was the only way I could make it work!

No LO yet, but I don't forsee myself doing this. Recently there was an attempted car jacking in our neighborhood where a guy left his car running, and there was a baby in the car seat, luckily the dad came out just in time before it turned into a kidnapping! I will never get this out of my head.

Nope. Around here someone will break your car window or call the police in an instant (which then involves CPS and well checks, etc.).

@sweetchic: same story. My mom left me at 10years old in the car with my brother (maybe like 6m old at the time) and ran in to get some cake mix from a grocery store. Took her about 3 minutes tops but in that time I had decided to sit outside the car and I left the keys in the car, baby in the car and car ON. My mom was pissed....

I haven't but I haven't gone to too many places with LO yet, she's 6 weeks. I was watching the news last night and they were talking about the current heat wave in CA and how a lot of business now have signs at their establishments reminding parents not to leave their kids unattended in cars. They said 25 babies have already died from overheating in cars. So sad.

I parked next to the carts at Target twice and got the cart while she was in the car. I parked so she was closest to the carts. I left her door open while I got the cart to put her in it. Does that count? It was like 5 seconds.

@leelee: I read an article about this and it has haunted me since. Every time it pops into my head I want to cry.
