I am planning a girls trip to France next year, around the time my LO will be a year old. We're only going for 5 days, but I was just wondering if this is a realistic expectation? Will I be fine to leave my babe for 5 days? Has anyone here taken vacation without their babies?

I plan to!! Before we TTC #2 DH and I want to take a second honeymoon to the Caribbean or MX. But we will probably wait until DS is 2 or 3 and can stay with my parents.

Yup, my parents watched DD when she was a year while DH and I went on vacation. It was the perfect age because she was old enough to be easier for my parents but still young and didn't care that we were gone.

LO is 13 months now and I'm not ready for that long of a vacation without her. DH and I are planning a one night local thing for our Chanukah gift to each other just to see how we (more like I) do away from her for a whole night. She'll be 17 months then, we'll only be a half hour away if something goes wrong (which I'm sure it won't, she'll be with my mom), but I'm already a mess about it. I obviously don't leave her very much!

We're going on a 5 day trip for my birthday this year. DD will be almost 10 months. It's going to kill me to be gone that long... but it's much needed for DH and I to get away.

One of my best friends is planning a destination wedding next summer. DS will only be about 7-8 month at that time but I'm sure we'll leave him with my parents.

Not until DS was 3. We went on a cruise to Cozumel for our honeymoon we left him a total of 5 nights. Towards the end I was REALLY missing him but it was nice to spend time with just DH.

We left DS with my parents for one night when he was 12 months old, and for 4 nights when he was 16 months old, and he did totally fine both times. He's not generally a clingy kid, and he's always been pretty flexible about routines and who puts him to bed and stuff like that. He's definitely more into us now than he was at a year... at 12 months, I really don't think he missed us at all
We just came back from the 4 nights away without him, and IT WAS AWESOME. I missed him, but it was SO nice to be able to just go with the flow and sleep in and eat late and make plans on a whim, and stuff like that. DH and I definitely came back relaxed and refreshed. I'm a fan of LO-less vacations -
we plan on going on our 5 year anniversary honeymoon (ha we never had a real one when we got married) so that means Mavrick will be 3 and Sienna 1. I think DH will have a harder time than me.
