My MIL's food is terrible, but I take her recipes and completely change them (it always shocks and amazes DH when I make one of his mother's dishes and it tastes 500 times better).

My mom never really cooked, she taught me and then quit. But I still make things she taught me as a five or six year old, like pasta fagiole.

Nope, and I'm dying to learn how to make my dad's cooking. It's omg droolicious good. He cooks by "tasting" so even when he tries teaching me, something changes everytime and he doesn't know exact measurements. I cook my following instructions, can't cook by tasting. ARG!!!!

Yes, I try to collect all of the really great family recipes! Chocolate silk pie, fondant, brown sugar rolls...om nom nom.

I have some recipes from my maternal grandmother, especially for desserts. My mom is constantly trying new recipes and we usually share back and forth if one of us finds something we like.
