DH really wanted to see it but I am pregnant and can't even watch the previews without getting tears in my eyes. Maybe once this baby is out, I will actually watch it!

So I just read a review of it that was pretty full of spoilers and I will NOT be watching this movie. It sounds way too intense and emotional for me!!!

I read the book years ago which was incredible. I would like to see the movie.
My sister didn't read the book but I mentioned the movie to her. She watched it and also cried the entire time, but really liked it.

I read "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy without any idea what it was really about. I was traumatized by that book. I can't imagine watching the movie. And I can't imagine if I would have read that book after having my kid!

After becoming a mom, I just can't handle that kind of stuff like I used to. I imagine re-reading Hunger Games as a mom, and I don't know ... you keep putting your kid into the situation of the kids in the book, and you imagine how scared and alone she would be ...

I always try to go into films knowing as little as possible about the premise. I go based on critical acclaim/hype. So yes I watched Room knowing very little about it and it was very tense/depressing, though to be honest I was very pleasantly surprised it (um, spoiler alert) has a happy ending. I kept expecting awful things.

@youboots: Man, I love post-apocalyptic stories! If you know of any good books/movies, pass them my way. But, yeah, nothing like The Road. Like, in my ideal post-apocalyptic story, there are no babies, and everybody dies but everybody lives. If you know what I mean.

I read the book before having kids and really liked it. I don't think I could handle watching the movie now that I'm a mom.

I want to have seen it, but I can't bring myself to watch it. I know it would be great but I read the book and I just can't make myself go through that again.

@magnoliamama42: The Road is the only book I've ever regretted reading. Ugh, it was so bleak - it haunted me for a long time.

I saw it just a few days ago when DH and I rented it from Redbox. I knew a little about it, and it was definitely sad, but I still enjoyed it. Sometimes I like more serious movies that really male you feel something vs. watching a bunch of fluff movies all the time.

I read the book several years ago, and saw the movie in the theater (which I never do). I thought it was the best book-to-screen adaptation I have ever seen.

It was very different experiencing the story well before having kids (book) and as a new mother (film).

SPOLIERS AHEAD---> Okay, I have to revisit this thread because I just watched it last night. I cried (a lot) and I thought it was a great story, but I think the movie is really about the one question the reporter asked her - Basically, should she have tried to get Old Nick to drop the baby off somewhere? I cannot stop thinking about it.

Watching the movie, it never once occurred to me, until that question came up, that she should have tried to do that. But it obviously would have been the best choice for her child. Selfishly, though, I think I would have wanted keep the baby. A little bit of happiness in a horrible situation. Something to wake up for.

And maybe he wouldn't have even dropped the baby off somewhere, but she could have tried, I guess. That is such a tough question.

What do you think you would have done?

Makes me want to cry just thinking about it lol... so I'll hold off on that movie!

I watched it because it was talked about so much during the Oscars, and I kept reading it was about a mother's love, and that the kidnapping wasn't a big part of the story. Ummmm, I cried through the whole effing thing and was mildly disturbed for days. Way too depressing. I agree with @youboots review 100%.
