My younger co-worker talks about it all the time. She keeps telling me to set up an Uber driver for our company party. We live out in the boonies so I'm not sure I want to Uber it out there after the party....and leave my car downtown!

All my experiences have been wonderful, but I've only Ubered maybe 5 times. Each time I was with at least one other person. The cars have always been clean, the driver has been friendly (some more so than others, but I never got a weird or creepy vibe from anyone), it's always gone really smoothly. I've used it when we would have used a taxi - when we are going somewhere we know we will be drinking. I love how the app shows you how close they are/when they will show up. And you don't have to talk to anyone on the phone or deal with cash.

Yep! We uber when we travel to cities (Boston, NYC, Chicago)... I've had amazing experiences in all cities. Clean cars, quick rides, and cheaper than cab rides. I would highly recommend for travel...
We don't have that many available cars in the 'burbs, but a few of my friends who live in a downtown area use it a lot for both ways from the bar/nightlife!

Can you use a key's please type company? They are companion drivers, one drives you in your vehicle and another follows in a second vehicle to take the 1st back with them?
I haven't used uber but they are creating QUITE a stir in our city. Until I use them I don't have any opinion, really.

All of my experiences with the exception of one have been great. The one bad experience was a driver with a lead foot. We drove in a tunnel and I felt like we were shooting a car commercial or music video. It was thrilling and scary all at the same time.
Uber drivers seem to be way more personable than regular cab drivers. The cars are clean just like taxis, but seem to be a bit newer than taxis. The cost between a taxi and Uber is no comparison. Uber is way more convenient with pick ups usually within 2-7 minutes.

@mediagirl: I used it 4x this weekend (in Nashville.) We had great experiences with all our drivers, my friend was on crutches and they were more than helpful. And the price was so much cheaper than cabs! like 1/2!
Also, I love that no money is exchanged, because I feel like this is the worst part of a cab. It's so awkward and I feel like they judge no matter how much you leave for a tip.

I use Uber very regularly and have had very good experiences. It is so convenient and I love that you don't have to pay the driver directly. I highly recommend it.

Yep, and all good experiences! So nice to not have to wait around aimlessly for a cab, and their app is very easy to use.

Yes. We just used it over the weekend. All good experiences. The drivers are often there within minutes. That said, I live in NYC, and they are all around. I need to set up an account for myself.

I have used Uber a few times but only in a downtown area. It was great but I'm not sure how good it is in the suburbs. I would probably try it but if I lived really far out I'd be kind of nervous too.

We used it in Las Vegas and had a great experience. I love that it gives you an approximate cost, and that you don't have to worry about tipping.

I love it! I work once a week and use uber to get home. It's so much cheaper than a taxi (it's usually around $7 or $8 when a taxi would be around $12 - $15) Not that I go out anymore, but when I do I love being able to request a car and have it waiting for me when I leave! You can also share your trip with your husband/friend/whoever so they know where you are. I also love not having to deal with paying and tipping.

I love uber. I haven't used it much since having LO in June, but I frequently used it before then. It's usually cheaper and you don't have to tip. I think it's amazing and you don't have to stand outside (in cold or rain) to hail a cab.

Interesting to read your experiences. Our city has been fighting the arrival of Uber for the past 2 years. Uber (the business model) is currently banned from setting up shop in our city in order to protect the taxi drivers.

I used it twice; I had codes to make them virtually free so I took it to/from getting my car serviced and work. No complaints! They are on time (you can see where they are anyway), cars are clean, one offered water, and loved not having to fumble with money at the end!

Living in a city, I choose uber over our taxi companies every time. Nothing but great experiences!

I'm in a smaller city (300,000+) and I do remember trying to get a XL uber around 1:30 am (for a bachelorette party) and there weren't any available at the time. That's the only time there weren't any available. I would be a little hesitant to not have a back-up plan for Uber if I was planning to get one very late in the evening in the suburbs.
