I just saw my husband walk out of the kitchen with the coffee grinder, walk into our bedroom, close the door and turn it on so that he wouldn't wake up DD (since her bedroom backs up to the kitchen). LOL!!
Have you had to go out of your way to make sure your LO stays asleep?

When LO sleeps, everything in the house stops. My mom has been watching her and right when LO falls alseep she always says, "I'm going to go start the laundry," or "I'm going to go make you lunch." And I always have to tell her NO! You don't do anything until LO wakes up. The thing is, she's waken LO up a million times by doing things when she's napping, so she should know this by now!

@artbee: My mom does the same thing when she comes over! She says she does it so that LO will "get used to the noise", but I think she does it so she has more time to hold her. It drives me nuts!!

@BabyBoecksMom: I tried getting my LO used to the noise too, but she would just wake up. My mom knows how cranky LO is when she doesn't nap well. I think she's just trying to be helpful and do things for me, but all I want is for LO to nap.

My LO used to be so good about sleeping through anything. Now, every nap minute is so precious that I won't even flush a toilet if I think it will wake him up.

It seems to depend on the child/house... My SIL sings professionally and doesn't know how to do anything at low volume. Her ten yr old just got a drum kit. Her 7 month old would sleep through a hurricane at this stage;) and they've a small house- there's really nowhere to get away from the noise.

We don't do anything different when LO is sleeping...we will watch tv, vacuum, talk in our regular voices, etc. My friend told me to do this from day one at home and so far, once LO is asleep...she doesn't get bothered by noises. Hopefully, she will stay this way but I'm sure kids change all the time.

Haha. We make sure we're quiet when LO is sleeping too. Well rested baby is a happy baby!

It depends. My LO is a sensitive napper but at night nothing seems to wake her up.

I don't start anything loud the first 10 minutes after she falls asleep but after that, anything goes. Of course, her room is sufficiently far enough away from the laundry room and kitchen so anything she hears will be muffled.

When LO is sleeping everything gets a bit quieter in our house and since our floor creek a little, I find myself tip-toeing everywhere!
