Would love to hear your ideas on travel to Hawaii with a toddler, somewhere between 25 and 29 weeks pregnant.
We are going in late January or early February. We are tentatively planning to stay in a condo rental in Maui.

I took my then 2-year-old when I was about 20 weeks pregnant (in January 2014...) It was awesome! We stayed in a condo on Maui. We had a pool, but spent most of our time at the beach (the pool was FREEZING). We did go to the aquarium one day, but didn't go on a boat (I get sea sick even when I'm not pregnant.) We did go to the pineapple plantation and had fun. Happy to answer questions!

Maui aquarium is awesome for kids.
There is a Costco near the airport for stocking condo. I like to stay in Wailea but Kapalua is nice too. Head upcountry to Kula (small lavender farm) and Paia eat at some nice local restaurants there. Lahaina is popular for walking along the waterfront and window shopping. Some historic stuff there. Whatever you do....don't go to Hana unless you have a ton of time to kill. The drive is super duper far and winds like crazy. Think motion sickness. Haleakala is pretty at sunrise but not sure if it is worth it with a toddler in tow.

@youboots and I have traveled to HI together the last two years (in 2015, my LO was about 2 and her LO was about 2 this year).
We've stayed in condos and a resort. Both have perks. There isn't much to say beyond the sand and the pools will keep your LO entertained for hours. We had a rental car, but finding excursions that worked around naps was a little hard. The plane trip was easy both years. I recommend a baby carrier for the trip, but a stroller is a blessing (since it's so warm there). Ask us if you have any questions!!!

I'm the same boat! We're going to Oahu in April with my then 2.5 year old and I'll be 5 months pregnant. We're getting go cards from Costco which is a pass for a bunch of different attractions. I'm not sure if they have them for various islands though. Other than that I'm just hoping for advice!

@Jess1483: @808love: What were your favorite beaches in Maui?
I'm also trying to decide if staying walking distance to a great beach is necessary or not.

@littlejoy: I think the Hilton Hawaiian Village was ideal. A good mix of walkability and beaches. It would be hard to find a place I personally like more.
Maui is awesome!! Loved it. We will eventually go back when the Hilton rosort is finished.

We stayed at Kaanapali just before LO's second birthday, and he had a blast!
I would definitely stay right on the beach if you can. Every morning we walked down to the beach after breakfast and LO played in the sand or the waves. Then we headed back to the hotel pool and LO played in the shallow kiddie pool (he could stand up and walk around). We ate lunch by the pool, then went back to the room for showers and a nap. When he woke up, we would head to town for dinner.

I went to Maui when my kids were 15 mos and just turned 3. We had an awesome trip! We rented a condo that was "walking distance" from the beach but we only did that walk once - about 45 minutes and hilly. Staying right on the beach would have been amazing but didn't work out for our budget and needs. Our kids were both sleep trained and not ready for hotel style lodging by any means. We had a 2 bedroom place, 3yo got the other bedroom and the 1yo got the bathroom attached to the master. Having a place for them to nap and "sleep in" (went to bed around 5pm and woke around 4/5 am) was important to us. Also, a full kitchen was great so we only ate in restaurants a couple of times. The pool at our condo was pretty fun, it wasn't cold and the boys had fun there. We only went to the beach 2-3 times.
Attractions: Aquarium, goat farm, sunrise whale watching tour by the non-profit, hotel pool, taking walks anywhere.

I meant Kaanapali not Kapalua but they are right near each other and Kapalua is nice too. There are a lot of nice beaches. I just go by looks because I don't know the names. Baby Beach is nice when the tide washes things clean. We went on a day when it looked a little dirty. The water was so calm though so LO went in anyway. . You can Google that though and just check it out when you get there.

Following - we are going to Maui with our almost 2 year old in Feb. We are staying in a condo in Lahaina for half of the week and a house in Paia for the other half. We wanted to stay at the Honda kai but acceptable suites were booked by the time we made the arrangements. Warning that this time of year is very busy so you'll need to move fast on lodging and rental car. For us, having a kitchen and a separate bedroom from our toddler is essential which did make it a bit harder. We have a couple date nights planned and will be using Nanny Connection for a sitter.
