I think the whole site feels about the same to me, so, mission accomplished. I never have good ideas for anything to change, I'm just so happy with the site the way it is!

@mrs. wagon: @photojane: I know it's not a chatroom but we do normally start a postathon chat thread at 7pm. Would it be better to start that earlier in the day so we could have an all day postathon chat thread?
admin / wonderful grape / 20724 posts
@photojane: @mrs. wagon: We've looked into a chat feature before, but the question of how to handle spam and moderation has always held us back. Maybe this would solve that issue... not sure!
However, it's not something we could easily do... maybe some day though. No promises!

@mediagirl: I am ALL for starting them earlier. I never participate in them, because at 7:00, I am home with my family off of work, so I try not to be on the computer. I vote for Thursday being postathon day

I think the only thing that bothers me is that I sign in from different devices so the site never remembers me (I think it must clear the authentication when I log in from somewhere else) - so then when I click on a gold post it's like SORRY - this is only for gold members! So then I need to click on login, login again and go back to the boards and find the thread I was looking at - and sometimes it disappers from the page I was looking at (like page 1, etc) and then I have to really go hunting to find the post. If there was a login on the Sorry page that linked you back into the page you were trying to view, that would just make it alot easier.

@AprilK: This is my biggest frustration because at work I am on my computer but when I go to pump I use my Iphone so I am always logging in all day long as I go back and forth. I notice it more now becuase of gold posts.
admin / wonderful grape / 20724 posts
@AprilK: @Ms.SK: Ah strange, I always thought we did allow logins from multiple devices? I'm posting this from my phone, and am signed in on my computer too...

@mrbee: I am on my laptop and HB is up on my phone too, no issues....

@photojane: @mrs. wagon: Totally showing my WB age, but do you remember BeeTV? Maybe something like that could be run by bloggers once a month?

I can be logged in on my laptop and iPhone at the same time but I get logged off of my phone at least once a day, at random times.

@mrbee: Well, when I access the site via a reply notification email I usually (but not always) have to log-in (through Safari). But it boots me off when I have it open in Google Chrome as well.

I agree with @evansjamie:. It's frustrating to see a topic on the sidebar and think, oh great, this is interesting and relevant, and then find out after clicking that it's Gold.
admin / wonderful grape / 20724 posts
@FutureMrsMcK: Ah I've heard reports of Safari logins being lost, but this is the first report we've gotten of Google Chrome not remembering a login!
Have you tried clicking "remember me" on the signin page here?

@Pirouette: I didn't read through this whole thread yet, so someone else might've mentioned it... but you're GOLD!

@Boogs: YESSSS, I loooved BeeTV and missed it so much once those phased out! I would love a HellobeeTV!
I hosted BeeTV once, but I hate being on camera so never did it again (even though DH bought me a webcam just for that purpose!)
GOLD / wonderful pea / 17697 posts
@mrbee: Hmm I'm fairly sure I do, but it's entirely possible I actually don't, or don't hit the box in the right place to actually select it and log-in without noticing. I'll try to make a point to remember next time and let you know.
As for the topic on-hand, I really enjoy Gold. I bought it for myself (although I'm really curious if I would have been gifted) and for another bee, and am very glad I did. I know a lot of the posts are photos (and I've never been shy about sharing those) but it's nice to have the extra layer of privacy to talk about more emotional issues without everyone and their mother being able to read it. I don't imagine anyone I know IRL would be here, but it's nice to feel like I have a safer place to vent about my family, or my occasional feelings of inadequacy.

I'm not gold yet (plan to upgrade in 2 months once we officially start TTC, and am trying to post more actively until then), but so far I haven't noticed much of a difference in the community since Gold was launched, it is still a great, welcoming place. Of course, there are a few gold posts that I've been intrigued by, but I figure I'll be privy to them soon enough, once I upgrade. I do look forward to private messaging/wall options though!

@Boogs: @Meridian: @Mrs. Bee: I remember BeeTV too.. I probably watched a few of those.. didn't realize that was so old school!
pomegranate / 3716 posts
@Mrs. Bee: Those were good times! I remember the days when you just left to camera on while you sat there and worked... not that I sat there and watched you or anything, puahahaha (Ok, I'm not a creepy stalker, I promise)

@T-Mom: well weddingbee launched in 2006, and we did beetv in the earlier years so it's been a while!
admin / watermelon / 14210 posts
@Meridian: it was a really fun, tight-knit community back then!

@Mrs. Bee: That's when I followed WB, in 2006! I guess I just thought BeeTV kept on going on and on..
admin / wonderful grape / 20724 posts
@Meridian: I think we put the camera on our fireplace once haha!

@Meridian: I remember you on BeeTV I think! It was always so fun to watch!
@T-Mom: Yeah I think so, there hasn't been one for years.

I think the community feels just like before. I agree, the "omg I'm gold" threads are heart warming, even though I'm not a gold bee myself!
pomegranate / 3521 posts
I was really apprehensive at first but the feel has been the same. My curiosity is peaked at some of the GOLD threads but c'est la vie!
honeydew / 7968 posts
I can see how people wouldn't like the thx I'm gold threads, but I can say that I was like nice! Even before I was gifted gold. Didn't bother me at all that there were gold posts and it didn't seem like a jhs clique to me since everyone made a concerted effort to keep the classic going. I do love the pm feature but honestly, I have no one to privately message! Lol....
Good job, bees!
pomegranate / 3521 posts
@MediaNaranja: Yeah I know.. You could always filter them out but I am too curious to do that too! haha.. I am my own worst enemy
persimmon / 1479 posts
@mrbee: I hope I don't come off negative with my ideas, it isn't my intention at all. I just thought maybe someone else felt the same way and I would throw it out there. Even in I'm not gold I still love the HB community and want to help make enjoyable for everyone. It does sound like you are making the Gold an awesome feature;)
admin / wonderful grape / 20724 posts
@mrsmenow: Not at all - it was very useful feedback, and a few people agreed with you too!!
There was a subsequent "Thanks for making me gold" thread, and the user agreed to make it gold out of consideration for your wishes.... so your feedback is already making a difference!

I think the community feel has really remained the same, and I appreciate that! I'm not gold, although I plan to upgrade in the future (whenever I have buttered DH up enough to convince him its not a waste!) I haven't felt or seen much of a change. I don't mind the I'm gold posts, I think its really special to have a community where so many people enjoy gifting, I do see how it could have a 'popularity contest' feel though, particularly to bees who have been around community. I do think I would want to thank the person though, so its a bit of a strange dynamic....
ETA: I don't really think you should feel the need to do anything about the gifting posts, they are simply meant as a thank you, and I'm guessing after this thread people may be starting those threads less frequently...
