I don't have any advice. But following. My preemie who's in the NICU has a malformed head from lying flat in the isolette. A helmet could be in the cards at some point.

We got a helmet at 4 months. Best thing we ever did. Positional therapy didn't fix the problem. I didn't follow the time worn guidelines and I wish I would have. His head looks amazing but I still notice the flat spot. I think it could have been even better.

@anonysquire: He's 10 weeks old tomorrow. Preemies don't have the muscle control to hold their head up pointed at the ceiling. So, he turns to one side unless he's positioned with bean bags. So, his head is flat on each side, but worse on his right side and elongated. We're working with PT now with positioning, so hopefully we can prevent him from wearing a helmet, but they can't promise me anything at the moment.

@Mrs.ThinMint: awww poor little guy!! My baby was born with a pointy head and originally the thought her sutures were born fused but now the whole right side of her skull has pushed forward. So we want to push it back
good luck with your baby!!!

@ladybee: did you follow the 23 hrs on, 1 hour off? Do you know if there is wiggle room in that? Like if maybe their costume doesn't work with a helmet. I know I'm being silly. Ugh I just don't want people to stare at my poor baby
Although she has a staring problem so I guess it's fair
@Mrs.ThinMint: thank you!!
@autumnlove: Thanks!!

@anonysquire: I only had him wear it 18 hours a day. Our sitter never left it on during the day so that was hard. There is wiggle room. We took it off for photos and family events.

@anonysquire: Good luck with the fitting. Our LO had one for about 5 months - it was a pain but it really helped. For the first 3 months we were really diligent after the adjustment period and he wore it 23 hours a day, took it off for baths only.
After three months we were going on vacation and moving so he wore it but not as much. In the early days though I really reccommend using it as directed - it really does get the best results!

@anonysquire: Please make sure she wears it 23 hours a day!
We adhered strictly to the schedule and this allowed him to wear the helmet for only 4ish months instead of the 9 months it was predicted to solve his issues.
She'll be fine! I look forward to seeing little ZZ helmet pics!

@anonysquire: Seriously, please make sure you have her wear the helmet as prescribed. I've seen babies who didn't wear it enough and the end result was not to be desired. This is temporary!
