@csross217: Is your infant insert out of the car seat? I forgot to take mine out with my first and he would howl incessantly. One day I realized it and he became less angry about it and eventually outgrew car seat hate. Turning on music helped - DH made a Pandora list of soothing songs.

Also my son hated the car seat for stroller rides because turns out he wanted to sit upright and see things. So we put him in the main stroller seat with a Summer Infant Snuzzler, strapped him in more upright, facing forward. We also got an Ergo360 so he could face out.

We just went on daily walks so he got used to the carrier or stroller.

@csross217: The thing that helped me was thinking "so what?" If you have to leave your cart in Target or carry her home crying from the park she'll be fine, no harm no foul, and maybe the next time will go better.

I feel your pain! DD never liked the carseat, and when I went back to work, we didn't want to put her in daycare yet so twice a week, she made two 30 min each way trip to my in-laws, and in the early days she didn't even take a pacifier! It sucked to have to just let her cry. Eventually she got better, especially when we switched to a convertible, and then I started letting her watch videos in the car too...

I still carry my 1yo in the chest carrier in the grocery store - that is a life saver for those outings. But, most of the time I try to do grocery shopping during my lunch at work (not sure if you're working), or at night after they're in bed and leave DH at home.

DD hated the car seat for a long time. She would scream and scream. I had to get out of the house though or I would go crazy so I tried to tune out the crying while we were in the car. I carried her around a lot of stores. She liked to be held facing out. I would put her in a sitting position and put her back to my chest and shop like that. I also used the Boppy to prop her into a sitting position in the front of the buggy at the grocery store before she could sit unassisted. She loved that. I looked back at my pics. DD was 4 months old when I started using the Boppy.

DD is 5 months old and we're currently going through this. No idea what her dealio is! At first, it was just when we were at stoplights (we had the same problem with DS, but he outgrew it after a month of two). Now, she wails anytime she's in the car, period! She screams and cries like we're physically hurting her. It's so painful and nothing calms her. I can sit back there and feed her a bottle (she doesn't take a pacifier), and sing/talk to her for a bit, but once she's bored, she's at it again. She's the complete opposite of her big bro regarding the car seat and traveling. I'm nervous about any and all upcoming road trips!! *hides*

@csross217: Have you tried a Wubbanub? They were our magic pacifier because they were heavier and gave her something to grab at. At 2.5, she's still really attached to the animal part (it's her lovey).
