Thank goodness everyone's alright! I love my CRV. I'm on my second one and love, love, love it! My DH has a Jeep Patriot but I don't like it as much.

I'm crazy about my Ford Edge!

We have a Nissan Rogue and the fuel economy is incredible and it's a good size for a family of 4. I've never had any troubles parking it in Toronto. That said, the Golf Wagon TDI is also an awesome car, but I know finding diesel gas stations in TO is a bit of a pain.

I've recently become a Mazda fan so I'd suggest test driving the CX 7!

I also wanted to add that you should make sure to replace the carseats. Not sure about insurance in Canada, but we got cash from the insurance company to replace both of ours since the accident was considered serious and the car seats considered compromised.

@woodentulip: awesome. Didn't mean to sound like I didn't think you already thought of it we had never been in an accident before so I was just shocked when they asked us how much the seats retailed for and sent us a check!

I really like my Toyota Venza. I've had it for about 4 1/2 years and still enjoy driving it. The trunk has plenty of room for baby stuff and I like the keyless entry. Makes it much easier when you're hands are full!

My Toyota matrix is a great car, though. And Toyotas just seem to keep on ticking. 170k miles, 9 years old, and I have put maybe 1500 into it, aside from regular maintenance. My husband drives a corolla and it has held up just as well.

We almost bought a VW but thought the CRV was a better deal. We really have grown to like it a lot! Good fuel economy (the VW didn't take the cheapest gas), back up camera, bluetooth which connects easily/automatically, USB cord to charge phone, storage space, comfy. We do wish it was more attractive though. We have the 2012.

I DONT recommend a CVT transmission. I bought my car with one brand new, and had to replace the whole transmission after 4 years (and 80,000 miles). Thankfully it was still under warrenty - but I can't imagine having to do it without!
