One of my good friends had her first baby on Friday night. (It was a rough labor, and I'm sure it will take her a while to recover) We visited them for a little while on Saturday afternoon in the hospital. They got home Monday afternoon and I want to go back and see her....
I want to be as helpful as possible (and admittedly, I want to love on their baby as much as possible), but I also don't want to be too overbearing, so I'm wondering if some of you moms can weigh on what would be helpful and what is too much.

I make her pumpkin bread and chocolate covered strawberries and a casserole and I'd like to drop it off - should I ask if I can stop by and visit? do the dishes/laundry? Or should I just drop off the stuff and not stay?
I don't want to get in their way, but I also know that sometimes people don't ask for help for practical things like cleaning.

What do you guys think?
