My husband and I are going away for a long weekend (Thursday-Sunday) in December...we live in Maine and want to do something warm. We have enough Southwest points to go to the following locations for free:
- West Palm Beach
- Nassau (Bahamas)
- Miami
- San Juan (Puerto Rico)
- Montego Bay (Jamaica)
There are a few other options (like Aruba) but we've been there before and/or they are too far for a long weekend.
Where would you go?! Where would you stay?

I vote San Juan, because you know it will be warm, where I feel like most of Florida *probably* would be warm but could have a cold snap. You'd hate to fly out of Maine in the winter just for 65 degrees.

San Juan!!! Beach, warmth and I would totally go off resort for some good Puerto Rican food.
Gah! I want to go somewhere warm and tropical so bad!

@regberadaisy: Just put all of your purchases including gas, food, groceries, clothes on a Southwest Visa and you'll accumulate an ungodly amount of points over the course of a year. Bam, free flights ; )

We go to Palm Beach after Christmas (when I'm not having January babies that is) and it's beautiful but never quite as warm as I'd like.
There are some really nice warm days, but often I'll throw on a sweatshirt.... And then the locals look at me like I'm crazy because they're wearing parkas.
I'd pick Puerto Rico or Jamaica.

Southwest flies to Cancun as well.....? All I can think of is SPRING BREAK! But I know there are nice resorts there, right?

@regberadaisy: Absolutely. We burn a hole in our card on a monthly basis. I also use my amazon visa for amazon purchases (to get double points and rewards) but only use our debit card to actually get cash or pay off the Southwest Card.

@winniebee: Of the ones on your list I'd probably choose Puerto Rico. Cancun is actually really nice in December (and I think would be the cheapest of your options). But depends on if you want to just relax or get out and do stuff.

@winniebee: Cancun is amazing! We stayed away from the busy/party strip. Stayed at Excellence Playa Mujeres... Amazing experience.

@lawbee11: Sit on a beach or near a pool....have someone bring me food and adult beverages all day...and read my kindle and nap. And eat all the great food there is! It's really just to relax and regroup. No need to explore, but if there's cool stuff near us we'd do that.

@winniebee: I think an adults-only resort in Cancun would be perfect for that. Agree with @Truth Bombs: that I've heard amazing things about Le Blanc.
ETA: Do you have a Costco membership? Costco Travel has great rates for Cancun all-inclusives.

We stayed at Secrets the Vine in Cancun and it was a great adults only resort. I also liked how it was close to the airport so your vacation started right away

@MrsKoala: we stayed at that resort (in the villas, next to the hotel)! It was great! C loved the water slide at the hotel pool.

@winniebee: we went with the kids and stayed at the Atlantis. they were building a new resort when we were there 2 years ago (should be finished by now) and we also drove by a sandals resort too!
