We are looking to take a "big" vacation next spring (Feb-April). Big is in quotes because pre-kids we did weeks long, multi-continent trips . DH and I are trying to brainstorm ideas and I'd love your collective wisdom.
We are looking at 4-6 nights and cost isn't a major factor. Someplace less than 4 hour drive or direct flight from DC.
The kids will be just turned 4 and almost 2. They are very active boys who love the water, playgrounds, and kids museums. We do a beach vacation already and it isn't enjoyable. The kids prefer pools and need something to climb on.
The kids loved Baltimore and Chicago. They are super comfortable in a big city and around people. They didn't love the lines at amusement parks and DS1 hated Disney (lines, heat, and that he didn't have a way to get his wiggles out).
We aren't interested in babysitters/kids clubs. We are looking for places where we can play with our kids.
What we've looked at:
- Disney cruise: I wasn't sure what activities they had that weren't the kids club. I can't see spending all day, every day at the splash pad
- Great Wolf Lodge-- I think it might be fun for 2 days, but not for a week
- London-- DS1 wants to visit Pongo and Perdita (101 Dalmatians). I'm totally up for a Europe trip, but he will be crushed if there's no Dalmatians in the park.
- Ireland--too much driving
What ideas do you have?
