You should stop swaddling once they're rolling. It takes them a couple days to figure out, but they all do it. And once they're used to sleeping on their tummies, they often sleep better.

How about a sleep sack?

My LO just kept breaking out of the miracle blanket from the bottom and then the blanket would ride up to his neck. That got scary so I stopped swaddling the same night we moved him into his own room in the crib. He did amazingly well so far and seems to enjoy sleeping of his side now. He is almost 6 months.

@Rubies: have you tried grobags? I'm curious how they compare.

We are totally in the same phase right now with our daughter! She's also 5.5 months and has started rolling in her sleep. We stopped swaddling a long time ago, so she's just in her sleepy sack, and she actually likes that a lot better than swaddling. Being in the sleepy sack isn't helping anything though with the rolling. She still wakes up screaming in the night multiple times b/c she is stuck on her tummy. Ugh. I always know immediately before even looking at the baby monitor that she is on her tummy b/c her "I'm stuck on my belly" cry sounds much more distressed than her normal "I'm awake and bored and can't find my binky" cry.
