Help! My husband and I have loved the same three names for the past 7 months. I'm now 39w1d pregnant, and this baby will come soon! So, while I wanted to keep the names a complete secret, I figure that polling a bunch of awesome mommies that I don't know is okay. Here it is: Jonah, Miles and Daniel

How do you feel abou nn Dan or Danny? If you don't like them, I think that would put Miles and Jonah ahead for me so you aren't fighting the nn battle.

@Foodnerd81: That's what my husband wants to do, but I think all newborns look like weird aliens. I'm sure I'll feel differently about mine, but they change so much! I want to have a name picked out for before.
Also, I like the nicknames for Daniel, and so does DH. It's an issue. We like the others because they are more rare, but not too rare. We don't like weird names for boys.

Jonah is a front-running for this baby if it turns out to be a boy, so I voted Jonah. Nice names, I don't think you can go wrong with any on the list. Did you try calling the baby any of these names in utero? Some names sound great in theory but don't feel as natural saying over and over.

Miles is a my favourite because it feels a bit less common than the others but it's still such a nice, classic name. He won't get any weird nicknames and no one will have problems spelling it. Think it's nice for a grown man too! Jonah is my second favourite just because I know a ton of Dans!

I know two baby Jonah's and one Jonas born in the last year, which was enough for it to get knocked off of my list. I like Miles, but I voted for classic Daniel.

Thanks, everyone! Keep going! I still have no idea. I'm excited to share the results of the poll with DH tonight. I should also point out that we are team green, so we aren't totally sure it's a boy. Call it a mother's intuition, but I feel so strongly that it's a boy!

@Mrs. BD: Haha, we had the same problem, but we didn't particularly LOVE any of our names, just 3 tolerable girl names. I was hoping when I met her that one would just stand out. Nope, squishy weird looking newborn baby didn't really scream any of our names. It was almost 2 days until we decided on a name!

@Mrs. BD: We ended up with one of our 3. It was kind of... random? We just had to finally settle on a name. I like the name now, but I don't feel like it's *her* name yet. It's growing on me more and more.
With my first, we settled on her name earlier, and I LOVED it soooo much. But, after she was born, I didn't feel like it suited her! I think it was because I had a vision in my head of what she would look like, and she looked nothing like that baby, so then the name wasn't right. However, she did grow into that name and it's so perfect for her. There was probably a span of 3 or 4 months where I was seriously trying to think of another name for her though - I would have legally changed her name if I had thought of a better one. Thankfully I didn't!Soooo, sometimes you just can't win. Haha

@swurlygurl: Thanks for sharing! I'm glad that it all worked out. My favorite is Jonah, and DH's favorite is Miles. We both like them both, but we can't really agree. Daniel is named after his grandpa, and we both like that one too, but it feels like a name we'd settle on. Jonah and Miles have a little more pizazz.
