I was hoping someone might be able to give me a primer about how to look for up to date medical research. I am looking for information about allergy prevention.
My husband has a severe peanut allergy along with allergy to most legumes. Oddly enough, his allergy blood tests came back negative to soy yet twice now he has had major reactions to it. Just last night, he went into anaphylactic shock and the only thing he ate for hours prior was a protein bar with soy. We have found small amounts of information supporting the theory that GMO soy proteins strongly mimic the peanut protein so that is our assumption at this point. Seeing my husband turn blue has made me go into overdrive trying to find any possible information on how to prevent our children from having a life threatening allergy.
Any suggestions on how I start researching? Googling is kind of leading me down a path with lots of blog posts regurgitating the AAP's suggestions on introduction of foods. I am hoping to find more information on what can be done during pregnancy and actual studies on exposure as a young child.
I have access to Health Reference Center Academic through my library if that is helpful...
