I'm on vacation and got a text this morning from my best friend that her oldest child woke up with HFM symptoms yesterday morning. We all we went to a playground together on Monday, so we are 3 days out from exposure. If he still doesn't have any symptoms today can I be hopeful that he escaped?

How does she know he has HFM? Does he have the sores/blisters?

They showed up Tuesday morning per her text.

4-6 days. It was five days for my son and four days for me.

He was exposed on a Thursday I think and came down with a fever on Sunday or Monday.

Not sure exactly on exposure...but we noticed a fever on Saturday (mild)...two sores showed up Monday...rash all over the body on Tuesday...Fever broke and it started clearing Weds morning...
She only ever had 3 sores externally and a few in her mouth/throat! We had a painless experience...

HFM went around my playgroup recently. The playdate was on Wednesday and everyone that got it had come down with it by Sunday or Monday. So it was about 4-5 days. We cancelled a playdate with a different group just to make sure LO was not carrying it but she never got it.

Mayo Clinic says 3-6 days I believe, which is accurate in our situation...sporting the tell-tale HFM blisters myself right now. Thank you daycare.

I'm living for day 6 right now before I quit worrying about it. Day 4 and no symptoms. ..yet.
