Sorry for the bad pics, but is this normal? She is 8 months. It almost looks like I could fit my finger in there.

@anonysquire: did your craniofacial doc check for this?

@Mrs. Jump Rope: no. Actually no one has ever looked at her mouth at this angle.

@anonysquire: hmmm, I'd definitely get it checked. I can't tell a lot from the pics since they're blurry. Does her palate feel hard or soft?

@yellowbird: crap. I've seriously never felt it. Bad mom! I'm going to attempt to get a better pic.

@anonysquire: poor her! She's so mad! It looks more normal to me from the last picture. The first picture looks off because the palate looks white and blanched but it may have been because she's crying

@yellowbird: ya she doesn't like her mouth touched. Ok so you think it's normal?

@anonysquire: I'm only mentioning this because it was brought up at our plagio appointment (she was diagnosed, btw). They looked at her head, then in her mouth and then her jaw. They wanted to rule out cleft palate and jaw problems.
I would bring it up at your next appt. our ped never mentioned anything, yet the cranio specialist said it was very common in plagio kids.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: I've had so many problems with her head doc. Ugh, we have an appt Wednesday so I will ask. Thank you for the tip!!

@anonysquire: it doesn't look super high to me from the last picture, but to be 100% sure I'd have to see it in person. You could take her to a pediatric dentist or ask your pediatrician. Your pediatrician nay not know a lot about the palate though and dentist may be a better option

@Mrs. Jump Rope: ok wait, so does your daughter have a high palate? Does it look like this or am I just freaking out fr nothing?
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@anonysquire: she doesn't, but I wouldn't know what one even looks like and it's hard to even tell what's going on in your photos!
I am mentioning it just because it really took me by surprise at our eval appointment! I expected the doctor to examine her head, but we ended up seeing three doctors and everyone was looking at her head, mouth and jaw. It was overwhelming & so much information that I definitely wasn't expecting! So, when you mentioned a her palette I connected the dots -- I would talk to your specialist and see what they think!!
