FIL wants to get us our high chair for Christmas and wants us to tell him the specific one we want (yay!). I'm having a really hard time deciding what we want though. We have an open kitchen/living room, with no table, just a big kitchen island with counter. We have backless bar stools at the counter, so the FP space saver chair is out. The counter has a 12 inch depth and no real lip.

Do you think a clip on high chair or free standing would be better in that situation? I was thinking of the Chicco 360 one, so I could feed her from the side-- with a regular clip on, how would I feed her since the island is pretty wide across? But I think the 360 needs more the 12 inches.

Also what features were important in a high chair? What about reclining? Is that necessary? Being able to fold up seems like a nice feature, as well as being easy to clean (another concern I have about the clip ons).

C is 4 months (today!) and we wont start solids for a little bit, but it would be nice if she could start sitting and watching me in the kitchen I guess. I will probably do a combo of purees and BLW, though I haven't really researched it yet.

Any recommendations? And anyone have the Chicco 360 one and can tell me the width and depth of the hooks?
