@Smurfette: I seriously don't know how you do it. You deserve lots of wine tonight!!

Tonight's episode was the first full episode I've seen (DH watches it every week) but I read about the series on Wikiepedia earlier so I kinda knew what was going on. Do you think they shot the scene with the kids when the series first started? So they've had the ending planned out from the beginning? I assume otherwise they would've aged over 9 years?

It may be pregnancy hormones but I cried through most of it! Ending was good though!!!

We watched this show for 8 years to find out who she was and it isn't even the point of the story?? I agree with @littlek: Boooooooooooo!!!!!

I'm also kind of disappointed. After the divorce announcement I could pretty much predict the rest. Meh. SPOILER. I did like the fact Barney had a baby.

@JennyG: me neither. Waahh
The only parts I liked (and bawled at) were when Barney met his daughter and when Ted talked about how he loved the mother through every 5am Christmas , every lazy Sunday...
@lawbee11: I read on people today that the kids filmed everything at the very beginning!

Hated the Ted and Robin thing! I think they should have just left it with the mom dying.

I was a little disappointed. All that leading up to how he met the mother and then that ending !?!

I liked it and was disappointed at the same time. I cried during the Barney plot though. That was sweet.
@PurplePumps: I agree.

@kentuckygirl: I cried the whole time too. Until the very very end when I got mad and threatened to throw the remote at the tv.

@PurplePumps: I agree. That would have been sad, but at least I would have felt like the whole show would have been about Ted finally finding the love of his life. Not that he's always had a thing for Robin.
Did you guys see they're making How I Met Your Dad with the mom character?
cantaloupe / 6885 posts
@JennyG: yeah exactly... It should have ended with the mother. Kind of feels like the point of the show was lost.

@twodoghouse: oh no! I kinda agree with @mrs. 64: about liking it but being disappointed too.
nectarine / 2771 posts
@JennyG: agree!!
They should have ended when Ted told his kids "and that's how I met your mother." I wish I could unwatch the last 5 minutes! It didn't just disappoint me, it pissed me off, haha.
I did love Barney's storyline, Ted's convo with the mom at the train stop and "TM," and the flashback pics of their family. How can robin even compare to the mother?!

spoilers:
I saw it coming from other spoilers. I liked and hated the ending.... but I think it makes sense. It really was the story of Ted and Robin...

@yerpie110: I so wish I could unwatch the last 5 minutes. Can I just erase it from my memory?

Ugh so disappointed by the very end. Even more so because I loved the episode until the last 5 minutes.

I hated it. Just hated it. One of the most terrible ending to a show I've ever seen.

HATED IT. I was screaming at the tv like a guy watching the Super Bowl. Ugh.

@lawbee11 they filmed the kids in the first three seasons
@jennyg they are doing himyf but with a completely different group. I don't think that it is going to be about Tracy (the mother)

Loved the episode until the last 5 minutes. Seriously, alllllllll that time and THAT was the end. Ugh.
Barney was sweet, I loved that Ted and Tracy got KU before they were married and had a May baby named Penny (since that happened to me, too!).

@rahlyrah: agreed!!
Did not like that Ted and Robin end up together, but I did like Barney's story. Couldn't help but laugh when he sent the young ladies out of the bar.

I'll join the crowd that disliked this, minus a couple scenes. Totally loved and teared up at Barney meeting his daughter & some if the scenes with the mom. Early in the episode, I told DH that the mom was going to die (I'd already told him I thought that would happen) and that Ted was going to marry Robin. I feel like the ending was a so Ross & Rachel/FRIENDS ending Take 2. I've loved both shows, but hated both finales.

I'm going against the grain and saying I liked it and wasn't disappointed at all. I'm not a super fan, but I've seen a lot of the episodes. I think it makes the most sense in context of the whole series. I love Tracy and her whole character, but she had two loves or her life. And so does Ted.

@TemperanceBrennan: Me too- I'd heard the spoiler before (thankfully) so it wasn't a huge shock and I really don't mind how it all turned out.
I seriously balled at Barney meeting his daughter- I had both my boys snuggled against me and tons of pp hormones going on, so I was a hot mess. And I balled at the end of course too, I'm sad to see it end

It was a little disappointing and kind of predictable. However, I cried during the scene with Barney!
I've been such a fan of the show but after season six, it went downhill so I'm glad it's over. It's so weird though since DH and I have watched it for the entire time we've been together (while we dated, were engaged and married) so it's weird that "our" show is over with!

Barney was sweet, but hated it overall. It was a love story about robin and ted.
nectarine / 2591 posts
OMG THE RAGE! I was loving until the end. Why make us fall in love with the mother to do that? Sooooo angry.
pomegranate / 3729 posts
@HLK208: we feel the same way...been watching it throughout our whole relationship!

Eh - it totally didn't live up to my expectations! I only cried a little and thought I would be sobbing the entire time. Kinda dumb.
LOVED when Barney met his DD for the 1st time!!!
Didn't like the ending - it was sweet but would have preferred the mother lived and that was it!
At then end when they showed the cast and their names - WOW!!! They looked sooooo young when the show started!!!!!! Granted it was 9 yrs ago ....

The Barney storyline was great, but I'm very meh about the ending with Robin and Ted. It was too predictable.
