    @CupQuakeWalk: The kids said something to the effect of 'Dad, Mom's been gone x years, it's time to move on/ask Aunt Robin out'. Something like that.
    SUPER LAME!

    @swurlygurl: I KNOW! I was like..."wait, no...no...I thought she was sick.."
    I thought the story would end with her funeral maybe, and the dad is telling them his and his mom's love story to ease the pain of the loss? But instead, he was telling his kids the story of him and Robin's love story. WTF.

    I was just so frustrated that we didn't get to know the mother more. We spent 9 seasons hearing bits and piece about her and then they kill her off in 5 seconds.

    not to mention that the whole season revolved around 1 weekend (which got really old really quickly), and then they broke up barney and robin (which made the whole season feel like a waste because there was a lot of non-mother stuff this season).

    also, i think that I would have been happier with the ending about ted and robin if robin hadn't tried to get ted to run away with her on her wedding day! UGH

    i did love the bit about barney though (and then got a little frustrated that they used the name "Ellie" because that is one of my top girl names and now it's going to be super popular.)

    however, i did like how they brought back a lot of the old jokes and loved judge fudge. but we never got to know about the PINEAPPLE!

    @CupQuakeWalk: Yeah, super ridiculous. At first I didn't think they were even going to wrap up the death, just leave it vague with her being 'sick'. I would have liked to see something about finding out she was sick and all that heartbreak - a perfect opportunity to get your audience to cry!

    I am a *little* bit glad they wrapped up why he was telling his kids about SO MANY of his other ex-gfs, and hardly at all about their mom, because that was kind of awkward. At least it makes a little bit of sense now (even though I still hate it!)

    I thought the episode was pretty good until the last five minutes, then i HATED that Ted went to Robyn. Even the dying part I could handle-- sad, but you know, better to have found the love of your life and have her for 10 years than to never meet. But then he went to Robyn, who sucks. The part with Barney and Ellie was amazing though.

    I saw this on Facebook and think it's how it should have ended:

    I wouldn't have hated the ending if they had done the show differently. I didn't watch it regularly but after the first couple seasons it was just like PLEASE STOP LIKING ROBIN SHE DOESN'T LIKE YOU. So for it to end with him still trying to get with Robin just made me smack my head. I wish they had left the possibility of some chemistry between them if that was how it was going to end.

    And that's just so weird for two best friends to marry the same girl, so so weird. I wish Barney and Robin didn't get together if that's how it was going to end, they never made sense as a couple and just made the ending really awkward. And why spend a whole boring season on their wedding, they could have shown more in depth all those fast forwarded moments and still ended with how he met the mother.

    This didn't occur to me before, but yeah that is weird.

    @Maysprout: @pui: Hah! They probably didn't even get married because Robin's all high maintenance and fickle and would've just broken up with Ted AGAIN because that's what she does.

    @Maysprout: I was thinking the same thing. How can he date Robin now that Barney was married to her?????

    @Adira: Haha, they didn't show Robin's response. In my mind it was "how many times do I have to tell you old man, I don't like you like that'
