I may have the holiday blues because it's just the DH, LO, and I. Everyone's busy doing this or that and we don't have any plans in particular. The 3 of us will be doing some things but I plan everything, the DH is just along for the ride, and the LO will be 19 months so doesn't know what is going on anyway. Anybody else in a similar boat?

Aw! I'm sorry. I'm sure even if it's just you 3 it will still be magical just like the holidays are. For us, it's always jammed packed and exhausting, so sometimes I wish it was just us.
Maybe opt to do a yearly tradition just the 3 of yous to make it a little more special?

@blushink: Thanks! We have our yearly traditions - well, this is only the 2nd year - but it still feels lonely with just the 3 of us. I think it will be better once my daughter is older and can really participate. Then she can help mommy do some holiday crafts and shopping.

My husband is deployed and both of our families live on the complete opposite side of the country - so yes, I'm having a bit of the holiday blues.
I can't justify the cost of a plane ticket to go home for the ACTUAL holidays (tickets like triple in cost) so I'm going home to see my family in the beginning of December and I'll be spending the ACTUAL holidays with other military families that I've really just met.
At least hubby will be home for the holidays next year though...

I'm having a bit of the blues because we have nothing to announce or celebrate this holiday season. I'm really thinking of not doing Christmas cards this year because there's nothing terribly exciting to share like a BFP or anything like that. I'm excited to see my family this week and do the presents stuff, but beyond that, not really geared up for the holidays.

@carrieknitscake: I was feeling a little No-Baby Holiday Blues last week, but then realized that this may potentially be our last Christmas as a family of 2, so we're going to make the most of it and do alot of great couple Holiday things!

@meaganceleste: Wow, that's a really positive way to look at it. I guess I've been feeling down about not being pregnant, feeling like my body's a failure. I really like your attitude about it. It may just make me want to make a Christmas card now!

@carrieknitscake: We just took Christmas Card photos! We decided to go all out and get a photographer and get a bunch of pictures of just us (and our dog, since she'll undoubtedly be bumped from the holiday cards when there's a cute baby around!)

@meaganceleste: I'm thinking that we have some from our travels this summer that would be awesome. I just hate that "we're not important because we don't have a BFP or a baby" feeling right now.

I'm kind of jealous. Our holidays are always going between my parents and my hubby's. Now that we have a baby all the grandparents, aunts and uncles, etc. will be fighting to spend time with her and we won't even get to see her on the holidays!

@carrieknitscake: I know it's hard, but don't let the baby quest define you guys. You guys are just as important to your loved ones, BFP or not!
I'm totally feeling the holiday blues. I live with my hubby in England and we won't be able to return to the States for Thanksgiving or Christmas. The holidays are a really big deal to my family and hubs doesn't really have any family left, so it'll be just us. I'm due in March, so I'm hoping to take this year to establish some new traditions for our new family! But it does suck.

I feel the holiday blues sometimes, it's a difficult time of the year, especially when you are bombarded by images of huge, happy families sitting around the fire telling stories or whatever. I think that's normal though.

@MegWag: i used to live in london and i introduced thanksgiving to the brits that i knew over there. they ended up really enjoying it! i moved back to the states but a couple of other americans are still keeping it going. so i actually had more fun over there and i am jealous of their get togethers!!

I already feel the holiday blues because life is just so different this time around. Prior to having LO, the hubs and I went everywhere, taking in all that our city had to offer. Now, we're stuck at home following LO's routine and I feel like we're missing out. But, at the same time, I hope we get to create new family memories and lasting traditions.

@Andrea: I love that idea and if we weren't sad losers with no friends I would totally host a big Thanksgiving. I love doing stuff like that
Hopefully by next year we'll have made some friends (or be able to go to Texas)!

For the first time ever for a major holiday it will be just Hubs and I here at Thanksgiving. We're going to have a small but traditional dinner for just the two of us, and then we're going to go up to the Napa Valley Wine Train on Friday. It'll be fun for us.

i got the blues because i want to spend it with my family (all my cousins are coming down). but my hubs wants to spend it with his family (they don't do turkey or anything and it'll just be them) and since we didn't do it with them last year, i'm giving in. =T
