I’m gearing up for Christmas baking. Admittedly it’s a tradition in my family to start baking Christmas cookies around thanksgiving and then give them to friends, neighbors and families. As a kid my mom and and I didn’t get along but we could call a truce in the kitchen to bake holiday cookies all weekend long until Christmas. My mom passed away years ago so I bake to remember her traditions too.
I bake a lot of cookies every year. If I quit I think my extended family might disown me.
Do you have any favorite cookie recipes? I’m always on the hunt to add to my to do list.
I’ll share that I always make decorated sugar cookies, turtles, peanut butter blossoms, cranberry bliss bars, and m&m cookies. This year I’m trying an egg nog cookie, an apricot and chocolate sandwich cookie, and peppermint meringues among others.
plus it keeps them special. They’re so buttery and light compared to other treats I make. It’s a welcome addition!
Plus we always have Cuties mandarin oranges on-hand for the big kid so I just steal a couple for this recipe. I usually put allspice in instead of cloves just because it's what I have and it turns out great.
