Going off of my earlier thread today, I was wondering...
For those of you who do holiday photo cards, do you make them yourselves? Last year we used Shutterfly, which because a little bit pricey. I know Costco has some layouts too, but EVERYONE I know uses Costco, so often people end up sending the same cards/designs and I like to be a little different. 
What do you use to make your photo cards?

Last year we used Shutterfly.
This year we'll probably use them again. I'll probably only order 25 or so.

We are going to use shutterfly. They ususally have pretty decent promotions so if you time it right you can get a good deal.

I have used Walgreens (not so great), tiny prints, and minted (last two were very nice, but more expensive )

we used http://www.cardstore.com/ last year. they came out great! the paper & printing was really nice. i threw them together at the last minute, we were waiting on our wedding photos, which didn't end up coming in by then, so i just used randoms. they printed, addressed, stamped, and sent out directly all of our cards, SCORE! no additional cost vs having them shipped to you. i sent like 5 to our address, just so we'd have a few extra =) i may have addressed one to my cat.... i had some coupon codes, so they were super reasonable $$ wise

I used Snapfish last year. If you watch for promotions, it's not too bad. 25 folded cards (color on front and inside), plus envelopes printed with our return address were $28.35, which included shipping and everything.

I think I am going to use Paper Coterie this year. They have a promotion for 50% off cards (holidaycards2012). They have super cute stuff. Only downside is that I have to order them by Sunday to use the promo code!

I ordered ours from Zazzle this year because there was a Groupon.
Definitely look out for coupons and deals. This year I bought a Picture People Groupon for $16 and I think the Zazzle was $15 for $40 worth of cards. I had DS's pictures done by 10/24 and the cards ordered (with the photos) by 11/1. So now I don't even have to think about it.

@rachiecakes: I bought the same Zazzle groupon! I didn't realize we only have until next Friday to order the cards, so we're taking family photos this weekend. I hope the quality is decent!

i really like paper source. http://www.paper-source.com/cgi-bin/paper/personalized/holiday-cards/photo-cards.html i think their cards are more like proper cards and they have nice envelopes. and i think their designs are not as widely used. (so self-destructive of me to be recommending it on the www!)

Last year I just had some made up at walmart with a wedding picture. I much prefer having one that I can sign myself though, so I will likely use vistaprint this year. I like that they ALWAYS have promos, and I can get return address labels to match that we use on bills throughout the year if there are too many left over!

@mrs. bird: we used cardstore.com, too! i got them for SUPER cheap on black friday. i think i paid $30 for 75 cards or something? we liked the quality, but they didn't have the best selection. minted and tiny prints are WAAAAY cuter, but you couldn't beat the price!
i think this year, i'm going to try to design my own and then print them through vistaprint or mpix.

Shutterfly and we do them super early so they are 45% off. I think there are last minute deals too so keep an eye out. Ours arrived the day after Halloween.

Ours from Zazzle just came in, and they are AMAZING! I used a $19 for 40 cards groupon, and wasn't expecting the quality to be great, but man was I blown away. They are a great paperweight, and a terrific finish. I'm sure we will use them again. This year we did a photo from the wedding :). I've used minted in the past for wedding stuff, and was very pleased with their quality as well. We have a free photobook from Shutterfly that we got for buying groceries today (weird), so I'm excited to see what their quality is like.

This reminds me to take some pictures for that Zazzle deal from Groupon! Man, I really wanted to avoid another photo session, but the deal was just too good!

We're using Tinyprints which I guess is a Shutterfly brand. I've just loved their quality in the past but this year the decision was made for me when they had a great deal over Totsy or Zulily, I can't remember which.

for those of you making your own design..what program are you using? I have a mac, I just wanted to do a full-card image of LO with some writing. but all i've got is word - and I downloaded gimp, but no idea how to use it yet!
