Well I know for us, especially now that he's a toddler, one month lasts more like 2-2.5. He only needs to be changed 4-5x a day. In each box we get (I think - it might be 8. I honestly cannot remember at the moment) 6 packages of 36 diapers each, and I think it's 4 packs of wipes. Although we always run out of wipes so we usually buy extra (either extra honest wipes or just huggies natural wipes). I don't really see the cost as a big deal. there are a few things that matter most to us, and diapers with limited chemicals is one of them. We were cloth diapering for awhile for the same reason, but it's not cost effective in an apartment with coin operated laundry - and the machines don't have the rinse only cycles you need for them anyway.

You just have to choose for yourself if it's worth it - for me the the limited exposure to uneccessary chemicals is worth any price. It's not to others and that's fine.

@Mrs.Pen: I didn't understand the pricing either - it seemed like it was $8 for one diaper, which seemed really expensive! So for $80, you get six packages of 36 diapers?

@Smurfette: I was looking at the process after I posted that and started second guessing it too. It seems like they are more expensive but I'm not sure if I am just reading it wrong.

@Smurfette: they are much more expensive. I subscribed to them by accident and I didnt change my delivery date and I got shipped a monthly box.

I was a little skeptical of the uber expensive diapers and we tried them since we already paid for them. They were pretty good. They did not have a smell to them and they held up really well. The wipes are nice but we had 2 huge cases of Huggies wipes so I only use the honest ones in our diaper bag. The diapers lasted us exactly a month.

Would i continue buying them. No, I felt they were really expensive and yes I understand my pampers cruisers have a ton of chemicals but $80 for wipes I didnt use and if I priced out just the diapers it made more sense to get the bundle. I got about 6 jumbo packs and i cant remember how many wipes I want to say either 4 or 5 wipe bags.

@Smurfette: i think size 4 are like 47 cents a diaper

@Smurfette: a box lasts us about 6-7 weeks. You can schedule and change when you want your deliveries!
I haven't done the math, but we used to put dd in seventh gen and I think the price is comparable?
I love how cute honest dipes are!

@Smurfette: nope! You don't need to order every month I ordered in August so I have delayed mine to order again in October.

@sotofamilia: haha definitely not $8/diaper! It is $80 for six packages of diapers and 4 packages of wipes.

@mrskc: very interesting! Although for sake of comparison it might be more accurate to compare to other "natural" brands like earths best or seventh gen. Obviously a brand like pampers/huggies/target will be cheaper.

@Smurfette: honestly I don't think most people even think of diapers having chemicals because our reaction would be hey it's a baby product - it must be safe! Same with baby soaps... lately there have been a lot of baby soap recalls from chemicals they "thought" were safe and are now being proved as unsafe. I just don't want chemicals that haven't been tested for safety on my sons genitals for the first 2-3 years of his life. It's too easy to trust that all the products out there are safe but I just don't want to take that chance honestly. After researching I did find that they bleach diapers and a byproduct of the bleaching process is dioxin which was said by the EPA to be the most potent carcinogen they observed in animals! EEK!! So once I read that - I would pay an arm and a leg for diapers.

@littlek: I don't buy them for cuteness at all. I also buy seventh gen and earths best. I find they are all comparable in price.

@littlek: Oh I'm not offended at all. I totally get why most people think that people buy them for the cuteness - it's a perk! But for me the lack of chemicals (or at least most of them) was most important. Which was why I initially cloth diapered - it was just too difficult to do in an apartment where we pay for laundry.

I also don't mean to offend by saying everyone needs to buy chemical-free diapers (which I don't think ANY are 100% chemical free) - it's a personal preference!

@Mrs. Pen: true. I just did Pampers for comparisons sake. You can take the honest price per diaper and compare it to whatever brand you want. Surprisingly the bundled price seems pretty comparable to pampers when not getting the amazon mom subscribe & save discount.

@Smurfette: I've tried several packs of Honest diapers (not bundled) and it took me a little bit of getting used to (no blue indicator line!) But I really DO prefer them (besides the cute designs), it doesn't give off a smell when wet. I find the normal diapers seem to stink even when she just peed a little bit. And I would end up changing diapers more often. I've also never had a blow-out or leak yet with the Honest. Since they are more pricey and we get a lot of our diapers from my ILs, I just buy them occasionally and have been using them mainly for overnight diapers.

As for the wipes, man, I love the Honest wipes! They're thick, not too wet, not too dry, and I feel better about using them as all-around wipes (face, toys, etc.) But they are a lot more expensive since you can get wipes pretty cheap everywhere.

I do agree and think it's more fair to compare Honest to another brand (i.e. Seventh Gen) vs. a hugely "couponed" brand like Huggies or Pampers. FWIW, I've had leaks with Seventh Gen. too.

@Mrs. Pen: Yeah. I mainly take the Honest out and about with me, and use Huggies/Pampers/Target brand wipes at home because I can use more if needed.

@sotofamilia: I like them both equally! I actually just bought a big box of Earths Best because amazon had a discount on them. Never had leads/blowouts with either except overnight if he wets excessively.

The honest leaked for us before (size 3) so we had to quit using them

You guys totally got me thinking about the chemicals. LO has uber sensitive skin. Sooooo I've ordered a trial pack.

@birdofafeather: I love Earth's Best as well! We haven't had one blowout or leak since we started using them a couple of months ago.

I just bought one Bum Genius Freetime as a test - I love the cost-savings of using cloth and the less chemicals, I just have to get my head around the washing off smelly-solids poop into the toilet!
