wanna laugh... I did use my makeup the first time around. My sisters and friends couldn't believe it. haha.

I used a robe the first time around and will bring it again today.
Slippers? I loved having those even if the first time around I gave birth in july.

Can you believe I don't own any nursing tanks (other than Pjs) and yoga pants or sweats.
I'm packing my hospital bag today. So I love this post.

My list is very similar to yours except I won't be putting maxi pads, iPad or Kindle, make up
Maxi Pads I'd figure the hospital will provide plenty.
iPad...I have my iPhone. Kindle, ha! I really don't think I will have time nor feel like reading? Don't wear make up.

As for toiletries all travel size, I have refillable bottles from quick weekend trips.
I also have a old pair of slippers I plan to throw out afterwards.
1 pair of yoga pants and nursing top for going home.
And a robe that I still need to pick up from Target.
My 2 outfits for LO are in NB and 0-3 size not knowing exactly what size she'll come out!
Oh and some snacks for my husband.

oh bring food. no joke. you will want something good to eat. Hospital food is tasteless (well here anyway)

When my friends came to visit they brought me fruit and croissants/pain au chocolat. It was the best pain au chocolat. I ate in my whole life.

@chopsuey119: Our hospital provides barely anything. That's why I took whatever I could. haha... yes, I admit I steal from hospitals.

@blushink: did you sign up for Enfamil Family Beginnings? I currently have SIX free full size cans!!! I plan to BF but hey you never know and I know how $$$$ that stuff is!

@regberadaisy: I signed up to Nestle (gerber in the states), Heinz, enfamil .... basically any site I could find free samples and/or coupons. I have yet to receive anything though. hmmm

I have a nursing tank, soft pj pants, and an open cardigan to wear after she's born/in case we have visitors. I also packed a pair of yoga pants and a shirt for going home. I also have travel size shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and deoderant. I have an outfit for baby girl in both newborn and 0-3 month sizes with a matching hat and blanket. In the bag that I have for labor and delivery I have snacks (trail mix, raisins, protein granola bars), travel toothbrushes and toothpaste, and the video and regular camera with chargers and batteries. Before we leave, i'll grab phone chargers and the laptop and charger (for music if I decide I want it!).

i honestly used almost nothing because our hospital provided so much, including all toiletries. i didn't use any of my clothes/underwear except when i was going home because it was easier to stay in the hospital gown since i was bleeding so heavily and you have to nurse so often. i did use flip flops for the shower and walking around, and the robe was super handy too.

agree with chopsuey on the breastpads and maxi pads. if you have a normal delivery and stay 2 days, your milk prolly won't even be in, and the hospital usually provides breast pads.

my friend just had a baby and took a newborn outfit i gave her (olive's hand me downs), and said it was the only thing that fit (she was 6 lbs and change). 0-3 month size was huge. so i'd take a newborn size just in case so you have something cute for pictures!

the hospital swaddle blankets work fine so i don't think they're musts either, but you can bring your own in case you need one for going home (i just took a couple from the hospital).

Also, thank you @Winniebee for starting this thread. I was just about to start a thread like this yesterday. I started to pack last night, and am so confused over what to pack despite the endless lists I've seen online. It helps to hear what people actually need/didn't need.

I honestly used almost nothing. I think I just ended up using a toothbrush, toothpaste, a hair brush, and hair tie. I didn't even go home in what I thought I would go home in! I really hope to be much better prepared for what I will actually use next time. I do wish I had thrown on some make-up, but it was a constant revolving door of visitors, so I never had any time to do anything for myself!

I think your list looks pretty good. Though I'd just use their paper underwear while you're there. Its better than it sounds ;).

You're a bit heavy on the electronics so you might want to leave something off there, like the kindle. There's not going to be a ton of time for leisure.

I did put on a little makeup and I wish I had brought more of my own toiletries, it made me feel a little more sane to shower and I forgot my conditioner so I just had a big knot of hair. I usually never wear makeup but I was a little pale after birth and of course everyone was taking pictures when they visited so it was nice to have it there.

Bring an extra bag (an empty duffel bag or one of those reusable shopping bags) for gifts and hospital goodies. We totally made out like bandits with pads, diapers, blankets, onesies, hats, pacifiers, formula, nipples, disposable underwear, ice packs, and even two sitz baths.

Oh, I packed a pretty typical hospital bag list and sent Wagon Sr. back home for: boppy, makeup, extra toiletries, more clothes for himself, and several other things. We also brought our laptop.

I did NOT use the massager, focal point picture of the dogs, music, and other things for labor... I just wanted silence and the TV on mute.

Where are you delivering?? I was (and will be) at Brigham and Women's and I loved it there!!

If you're planning on nursing, it's best to use unscented toiletries...said the LC's at my hospital. I figure it can't hurt, right?

I would have loved to have my laptop or an iPad, my days and nights were mixed up while in the hospital, so I could have used some mindless entertainment, so if you're planning to leave them behind, rethink it!!!

The one thing I was happy I had was a 3/4 sleeve robe. I ended up having a c-section & was in the hospital for 5 days. I loved having my robe to cover up so I could go to the NICU & see my daughter, and it was SO helpful that the sleeves were 3/4 so my IV wasn't affected.

I mostly wore nursing tanks and very loose yoga pants (and the robe) while I was there. I loved having my own shower stuff. I didn't touch my make-up (I did bring it - HA). I didn't bring my Boppy because I had heard that pillows would be abundant and it was easier to just use those (and not waste the bag space brining the Boppy). I was happy I didn't have the Boppy - just one more thing to lug around.

music? I loved having my iPod and dock/speakers with me. I had a playlist during labor and delivery, and listened to my music with baby later on too.

I second the robe. i honestly didn't want to wear clothes while I was at the hospital, the only time I did was to throw a shirt on when my family came to visit. but I wore the robe while walking the hallways and on the way home.

Also, I don't think you need the boppy. There are so many hospital pillows, and babies are so small that a pillow is really all you need.

We actually had pretty good food at the hospital. But my mom brought a bunch of seaweed soup (the hospital had it on the menu) so I ordered food mostly for my mom or hubs (both split time at the hospital)...

Took a book. Yeah right, even touching it. It was in and never left my bag. I did end up using the iPad.
