This year I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving. I'm NOT Hosting And neither is my MIL. Although my ILs are likely coming for the holiday we are all going to my mom's house for dinner. I'm thinking of hosting a Tree Trimming party for the day after Thanksgiving since I don't shop on Black Friday. Or maybe just a dessert party and put the tree up myself.

I plan to host Thanksgiving. I am not sure where my brother and his family will be this year for Christmas, I THINK they alternate years with his inlaws, but I am not sure. I should find out.
Oh, and my son's birthday party in December.

I thought I was hosting in laws for thanksgiving but it looks like I'm off the hook! Yay! My parents are hosting for Xmas so that's good. Tree trimming party sounds fun!! Maybe we should do something similar. We always go the weekend after thanksgiving to cut down our tree and bring it home so we will definitely be doing that.
Oh! We were planning on a little bonfire in the cul-de-sac for Halloween but havent planned or put out little flyers out around the neighborhood. I need to get on that.

We usually host Thanksgiving and will again this year most likely. The only year we didn't was because DS was born the day before!

We're sort of having a tree trimmer party the Sunday after Thanksgiving. We don't own a truck, so my parents are coming over to go get our Christmas tree with us, then we're going to decorate it together and have lunch.
We're also sort of hosting Christmas... in the sense that we'll be home for Christmas and MIL is coming over, haha. But we'll have just had our baby, so we're not actually planning on doing anything. I'm thinking ordering Chinese might happen.

My parents will host Thanksgiving and my aunt hosts Christmas every year, so we just need to bring a dish to each. We host a Christmas party each year in early Dec.

I love the idea of a tree trimming party!
We haven't made our official holiday plans, but last year we hosted a Christmas day pajama brunch at our house and it was so fun. We got to do Christmas morning with just our little family, and then see our extended family later in the day for brunch, and I didn't even have to get out of my yoga pants. And doing brunch instead of lunch was nice because I could just throw in a big breakfast casserole and some cinnamon rolls.

I don't know our thanksgiving plans yet, but I do shop on Black Friday! Our target is always empty and stocked, so it's a quick and stress free trip.
We usually host Christmas Eve which I always look forward to!

My mom always hosts Thanksgiving and we host Christmas Eve dinner. We haven't hammered out the details for Christmas (day of) yet, but we'll be hosting something that day too - a brunch most likely.

We never host. Everyone else always fights over who's hosting what holiday! it's insane, but i'm grateful not to host. All our holidays are done potluck style, and I'm more than happy to bring a dish or two and keep the mess out of my house

Never heard of a tree trimming party but that sounds fun! I could be going into labor around Thanksgiving (due 12/8) so I'm not even sure what we're gonna do... I can go up to my parents, they're like 45 min away from the hospital just in case.
I totally don't mind skipping Thanksgiving though, and if I haven't gone into labor yet, invite my family over so they can go help DH buy our tree and put up decorations for me!

We are going to NYC for Thanksgiving. My niece's birthday is right around Thanksgiving so I'd imagine her party will be on Thanksgiving. DH will most likely be cooking the bird.
We host Christmas day and hoping my ILs offer to host eve?! We'll also be hosting a small extended family get together. Either brunch or heavy apps and drinks. TBD! I love getting together with family around the holidays!

I don't get to host anything 
Dh's family already had all their traditions established when I came into the family, and my family is halfway across the country so I'm obviously not hosting anything for them.
I'd LOVE to do some sort of friend evening, but all my friends have 2 families that they have to accommodate so their holiday season gets booked up too quickly.
I was just contemplating seeing if I wanted to invite a bunch of work people over for a holiday party - that's how desperate I am! Haha

@swurlygurl: what about hosting a Christmas day brunch? We always invite the ILs over to open presents and do a brunch. Then they go home and come back later for dinner.

We never host; we always travel back to our hometown where most of our family still lives. It would be too much work for everyone else to pack up and come way over here, and I can't say I mind one bit! We bring some food and booze and everyone is happy.

I don't think we are going to host any official holidays this year. Our families are pretty far away and we will have a newborn so we will have people coming and going all season. I am thinking about hosting a cookie swap but I am going to wait a few more weeks to decide. It sounds like a lot of fun but I am worried it will be too overwhelming this year.

@Mrs. Bee: I'm hoping to continue this tradition post-kids, but we always go to a splurge worthy restaurant for Christmas Eve.
@swurlygurl: a white elephant party or toys for tot where ppl bring wrapped gifts just to rip them open could be fun or an ugly holiday sweater party complete with a cookie exchange.
@Ginabean3: Tip 1: practice on a smaller bird first- just to get down the steps and practice of working backwards for showtime/ dinner time. Tip 2: perfect your gravy, when all else fails this will save the day. Lol

We are travelling (12 hour drive!) to my parent's for Thanksgiving this year. I am SOOOO excited since we've missed the last few years! It's always so much fun, and Thanksgiving is mine and DH's favorite holiday!
For Christmas we may be "hosting" my parents only because I'm refusing to travel at 7 months pregnant. I'm excited to cook a big Christmas dinner, especially since it'll be pretty low-maintenance with only the 4 of us : )

I will probably host Christmas. Last year, we hosted Christmas Eve, so I just made lasagna and it was pretty easy, but I like having something more special on Christmas, so I'll have to figure out what to do. If it's warm (as it usually is in our area on Christmas), I think we will eat outside because our house is small and it gets really crowded trying to fit enough tables and chairs for everyone. That was the one thing that stressed me out last year because we ended up having more people than we planned for and had to scrounge at the last minute to fit them in.

We're hosting Thanksgiving this year for two couple friends from our old state. They are flying in for the long weekend, and it's going to be really fun. I think, lol. One couple is staying in our second room (LOs room, who will bunk with us) and the other couple will be sleeping on an air mattress in the living room.
We like hosting dinner parties and having guests, and the only thing that could go wrong is me getting pregnant before then and having massive morning sickness...and if that happens well then....maybe I'll get it catered? lol.

@Ginabean3: Make sure you give your turkey enough time to defrost if you buy a frozen one! I think you need like 2 or 3 days - definitely more than the night before
