So, DH is in London on business and wants me to come down with C and stay overnight this week. She is a bit of a picky sleeper and I am terrified of staying in a hotel with her. We're going to just use the hotel's crib and take our own blankets and her sleep sheep.
Any tips?

We've stayed in hotels with our LO and she slept just fine. We took our travel crib and sheets.

@betsyboop: We were going to use the hotel's because we are going to tromp around London the next day and don't want to lug a PnP around.

We did a few times when she was 4, 5 and 7 months and she slept better at the hotel than she did at home! The first two tones, we just put her on the other bed (before she could roll), the last time she was in out PnP.

We travel a lot with the kids and always use the hotel crib. When it fits, we put the crib in the bathroom or closet so we can stay up after the kids go to bed. Otherwise, I make a little tent over the bed by draping the hotel comforter over furniture and putting the crib underneath.

We've done it ... hate it! He always slept, but only if we kept the room quiet and dark and pretended we weren't there. I don't think we evert had a bathroom big enough, and even so, then we wouldn't be able to pee

@Mrs. Yoyo: Lol we always use the lobby bathroom. Which is a bit of a pain, but worth it to keep the baby sleeping!

Thats what we've done and it worked out fine. I bought the sleep sheep to help with white noise.

We've pretty much always been forced to cosleep at hotels, even when we have our own pnp.

We're actually on our third night at a hotel with our 9.5 month old right now. It's been fine. He's been so stimulated by whats going on, he's been plenty tired and sleeping hasn't been an issue. We are lucky that the room has a perfect little spot for a PnP that's right outside of the bathroom, so we haven't had to worry about going to bed at 7pm, but I think we would have been fine regardless. Has she ever slept away from home at night?

@Honeybee: Aha, never really thought about that. Ha. I like rooms with entry ways around a corner that can stay a little darker for the same purpose. Hard to snag those sometimes.

We usually get a suite. It is a bit more, but worth the ability to stay up and chat/watch tv past 8pm.

I think whatever is a part of your home routine make sure you have with you. For our LO it's her sleep sack (or swaddle when she was younger) and white noise. I love PP's suggestions about tents/closets/bathrooms.

We stayed in a hotel for two weeks.
- we brought up a hotel crib and brought our own sheets. LO was freaked out over the change in environment though and ended up sleeping in bed with me for the whole stay. It was still nice having the crib so we had a safe place to leave her when we were getting ready
- sleep sheep was great. I just took out the sound pack and left the sheep at home. Don't forget extra batteries.
- It was a pain bathing her - the hotel bathroom was all marble and very slippery. I bought a baby bathtub while I was there to wash her in.
