What would you love to receive?
My sister just bought a condo so she doesn't need lawn tools or anything too space-consuming. I am thinking of getting a Kitchenaid mixer or a reconditioned Vitamix, but they take up quite a bit of counter space. Budget is $350ish.

I’m inclined to agree with a gift card to pick out her own stuff with that big of a budget. To the stand mixer- we got one for our wedding and didn’t open it for the 5 years we lived in an apartment then our condo because we didn’t have the counter space for it. I love using it now that I have a house but I would hold off. But a blender is easier to put away in a cupboard between uses.
Does she have dishes and pots and pans and things like that already? Enough towels and bedding? Those are the kinds of things that really add up.

How about an assortment of gift cards?
Home Depot, bed bath & beyond, home goods, etc.
Maybe wrap them up with a pretty tea towel or something like that.

My sister got me a DustBuster when DH and I moved back to the US and were in an apartment- I used it a ton so I didn't have to haul out the big vacuum when I just needed to tidy concentrated messes (like from cooking, or around a high chair or pet bowl).

+1 for a gift card. Maybe package it up with an “at home spa day” basket (bath bomb, magazine, face mask, candle, tea?) so it’s not so boring? And a nice plant

I agree with Bees_Knees idea, home spa day basket and the mix of various giftcards (especially home goods, obssessed with that place) and beautiful orchids would be nice!

What about a 1 or 2 time housecleaning service? If it isn't a new construction condo, it would be wonderful to move into a place that had been completely cleaned and sanitized, without having to do it myself (unless it is written into the offer). Our house was pretty gross when we closed!

For that budget I’d get a stain cordless vacuum! My parents got that for us, I never would have gotten it for myself and I use it 1-4 times a day!

If you know her style well enough, I would totally get an entire bathroom set up; shower curtains, bath mats, towels, the whole nine.

Thanks again to everyone for chiming in. I started looking at vacuums because of this thread and found a Miele for $200 off! It's from BB&B with their excellent return policy so she has some options.

Just came to suggest a vacuum, but you see you're headed in that direction.
Depending on the size of her place your budget could pay for 4-6 visits from a housekeeper.

I was going to suggest the cordless Dyson vacuum. With multiple floors in townhomes, the vacuum would be awesome to use

I like Marym's idea of giftcards. It's your sister, just ask her what she wants so you'll know she actually wants it!
Also think the window coverings idea is good too.
