@Freckles: I would be annoyed too! We usually are given a heads up by the teacher several weeks to a month before as LO starts "visiting" the other classroom to get familiar with it etc. then they tell us the official first day in the new room and what is different about what we need to provide so we are ready and they move over her cubby etc so they are ready for her. It seems really weird that they didn't talk to you in advance!

My son only moved up to the 3s room from the 2s, but the director and I spoke about it on the phone (since I do not do drop off/pick up).

I would be annoyed finding out by a newsletter! We always see our director and our daycare is pretty small so we pretty much always know when LO is going to be moving rooms. They only have an infant/toddler room, a 2's room and the preschool.
