technically a 4 br, 2.5 bath... but the 4th bedroom was converted into our master dressing room (before we bought)... it's a lil over 3,000 sq feet. a lot of space inside, but we want a bigger backyard for the future LOs and furbabies!

3 bed, 2 bath, 1700 sq feet. Big backyard and big master bedroom. Other two bedrooms are kind of small but work fine for a guest bedroom and a nursery. For just the two of us and a dog, it has been more than enough space. I love living here.

Will probably be ready to upgrade to something bigger once we've got two LOs and they are a little older. I'm find with the 3 bed/2 bath thing...just wish every room was bigger overall for our next home.

Not including the full basement, our house is about 2,500 sf (4 bed, 3.5 bath). We purposefully bought big so we're not grown out any time soon. When we need more space we can finish the basement. I can easily see us staying here for ten or more years with 3+ kids.

4br/2.5 bath and 2200 sq. ft. We just moved into it in May and are hoping to be in it for a long time (buying a house was a very stressful experience and I don't want to do it again any time soon!). We have a huge backyard and no neighbors behind us.

our current home is 1,445 sq ft (3bed, 2 bath). It's the perfect size for me and the hubby and guests right now, but our storage space is super limited! We're ready to upgrade to a bigger/forever home. We did note the smaller square footage when we purchased, but the size of the extra bedrooms were of good size (10x12). Anything smaller than 10x10 (IMO) is just too small for a bedroom. Once you put in a bed, that's the entire room!

@anonysquire: whaaaat seriously?!?! oh my gosh. how do you keep it clean?!

Our place we're moving out of is 3 bed, 2.5 bath and 1500 sq ft. We're moving to an apt building and it's a little over 1000 sq ft, 2 beds and 1 bath. It's smaller yes - but I don't mind because it's less to clean, and on one level. And Cobi is on the cusp of crawling, so that means less area for him to room, and easier to babyproof.

Before #2 though, we will have to move for sure - at least get a 3 bedroom, so probably need to be at least 1400 sq ft-ish. That won't be for a couple years tho.

@nodakiddo: girl!! I feel ya! Our master bedroom closet is like that of a spare bedroom with the sliding doors because it's only like 2 feet deep by 4 feet wide. We totally utilize the other bedrooms closet also. Sucks major!!!

Our house is 1850 sq. feet, 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, with a big backyard. When we buy again, we'll probably go up to 4 or 5 bedrooms and 2000+ square feet, since we do want another baby, and DH might start telecommuting full-time, so he'll need an office.

@caffeinated: Could you finish the basement into a play room/rec room? Then the bedrooms wouldn't need to be so big since you could house most the toys downstairs.

2 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, about 1300 square feet (townhouse). More than enough space for the two of us, but we're starting to look at houses soon...who knows what we'll find!

@anonysquire: oh my gosh!! crazy!!! That sounds amazing though. I want to visit you!

Ours is 4BR, 2.5BA and like 2,300 sq feet. We use one of the bedrooms as a computer/rec room. I think we would have more than enough space for two kids.

@Coco Bee: 3-4 days a week. Not way alone because DH gets off work at 10pm.

@anonysquire: oh yeah that's right. We're in a similar situation - DH works until 10-10:30 three nights a week. It totally sucks. It's even harder that I don't have a day job to make the time go faster... I am with my baby ALL day and ALL night.

Thankfully though, since he works 3 nights, he gets Fridays off. I live for the weekend! I hate being alone too. I get so depressed, especially once DS goes to bed.

We're in a 2BR/2BA condo in Chicago. We've got a little less than 1200 square feet. We're hoping to stay until our little one turns 1, then we'll house shop!

@anonysquire - Wowza! 6,000sq. ft... one can only DREAM of that much sq. footage in SoCal!

Were a touch over 2,000 sq. ft, 4bd/2ba. It's comfortable and I know DH hopes we can stay here until at least our kids are past Jr. High (because the Elementary and Jr. H.S. are reight behind our house). If we have two kids, there are enough rooms, BUT the main problem is the lack of closet and storage space in the whole house! We each use one of the closets in another room for additional clothes, and IDK what we'll do about closet and storage space if we have 2 kids.
SoCal does not have any basements and we don't have any designated spaces that could be a kids' playroom/area. So if #2 comes along, I would seriously look for a place with another 1/2 bath for guests and a play area.

3bdrm 2 bath 1800 square feet. It's a good size house, but sometimes we wish we had a 4th bedroom.

According to Zillow, our house is 3,796 sq ft.. We have 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. That has to be including the unfinished basement though. It's really open concept which is okay for the two of us, but I wonder how it will be for kids. (for instance, we have a TV in the great room and one in the "den", but the den is lofted so it's not like you can have both TVs going at once) I also feel like that the nursery and guest room are tiny for the size of the house. I can't wait to finish the basement so I feel like we will be able to have more "private" rooms where you can get away or send the kids to play without disturbing the whole house.

That's what I get for sending my husband house hunting without me. We were moving cross country and I couldn't take off work, so he would just send me pictures of the houses he saw so we bought this one without me actually seeing it. It does have nice views of the mountains and a great neighborhood though!
