My LO is almost 17 months old and she took her first steps at 14.5 months. She started walking all the time at 15 months but she only does it at home, daycare and at MIL's house. She refuses to take a step anywhere else and she will just sit down and cry or scream until we pick her up.
I know this is a phase that will pass but is there anything I can do to help her out? She won't hold our hands and walk with us...and I've even tried bribing her with her fave snacks with no luck.

My lo was kind of like that. She physically could walk, but would only walk if we held her hand for months. She was just scared. If we let go of her hand she would scream like we were torturing her and just stand there crying.
Nothing we tried helped. She just had to wait until she was ready. Your lo will get there too.

Will you let her push around a toy stroller when you're out?

Does she cruise? I would put her on one end of the sofa and place something she really wanted just out of her reach and keep moving it along the couch until she reached the other side. I did this obsessively
She also received many push toys for her 1st birthday (wasn't walking at 12 months). She loved those things. I also just started leading her around holding both of her hands and waking with her...super slow and took forever but I would walk with her all over the house; to her high chair at mealtimes, etc

I'm a physical therapist that works in pediatrics. Often, kids just don't feel confident enough to walk in large open spaces. I'd just keep practicing walking at home where she's more comfortable. Or try bringing a push toy out into the open.

When LO went through her scared of walking phase, I pretended to walk all wobbly then comically fall over and burst out laughing like it was so much fun. We would crack up laughing together over my funny spills and she became braver and willing to make mistakes to learn.
