It took a long time before DD1's hair started growing, but now it's pretty long. I'm conflicted on when to cut her hair. I feel like she needs to have a trim or something because we've never cut it (she's almost 4), but she has some beautiful curls that I'm afraid will never come back if I cut them.

We cut our DDs hair a few weeks before her 2nd birthday. It was just past her shoulders at the time, and I cut it into a cute bob. I cut it because I didn't want her to have "the mullet" as it grew out! Lol now it's all even and ready to grow out again. I haven't cut it since that very first haircut and that was 6 months ago.

I only cut the very ends when it was turning into a mullet as a baby. Then I cut it once when she was 1.5 years old because it was just getting unruly and growing out uneven. Now I cut it at 3 years old because I could see it getting split ends and needed to be cleaned up but kept it long. I could see your conflict about adorable curls! Do you feel like it needs to be cut, like it needs to be evened out? I would try to find a hairstylist with experience with adorable curls and just get a tiny short trim to keep the ends healthy. If the ends don't look split or anything, don't feel like you need to cut it!

Maybe because I have boys but I trimmed both their hairs when they were about 4 months old. Usually when it covered their ears I trimmed it there and then did it all around.

@BabyBoecksMom: This is my fear as well. DD is almost three and she's never had a hair cut. Her hair is super long, but she has these gorgeous curls (and I don't know WHERE they came from as there is no curly hair in mine or DH's family). I definitely feel like she needs a trim, but I'm so scared!

E was looking like a mangy animal, lol. Her hair was uneven and unkempt. The curl is still there

I cut my son's hair at a year old. He had gorgeous blonde hair, but honestly, he was rocking a Donald Trump style comb over, so it had to be cut. It's totally changed texture and color as he's gotten older, it's darker and has more "curl" now than he did when he was a baby.

M is almost three and I think it's time. She just needs a trim to tidy things up so I'm hoping it all goes well when we go in a few weeks.

I cut DD1's hair at 2.5 and again at 3 just to even it out. It looked mullety before I trimmed it!

I've been putting off a haircut for the same reason. Pretty curls that I just can't bear to lose.
I cleaned it up when she was ten months..... That was two years ago.
I just got my haircut two weeks ago and she doesn't like it so now I know she'll be extra resistent.

LO is newly 2 but her hair is super long. I feel like she's ready because her hair is so uneven. I think it would look a lot better and be easier to manage if it was just evened out a bit. But I am so scared to let someone near her gorgeous curls!

It was kinda ratty looking so we got a small trim at 18 months - she is 4.5 now and it hasn't been cut since the 1st time

I feel like DD needs a hair cut- she's 3 and never had one- but she doesn't want one, so I'm not going to force it on her. Her hair, her choice. She just has to deal with me brushing the tangles out.
I'm hoping when I get my hair cut after this baby is born, she will want a cute bob to match mom.
