Aww that's sweet.

DH and I started dating in high school. When I realized that I "liked" him, he had already been dating one of my friends, but they were broken up at that point. Yep, you can imagine the teenage drama that ensued. Ugh. But we finally started dating 6+ months later at the end of 11th grade. That summer, we spent a lot of time together and I felt myself falling harder. On the 4th of July, we went to the huge festival our hometown has every year. As we were watching the fireworks, I remember looking at him and thinking "wow, I really love this kid!"

4 years later, he proposed on the 4th of July during fireworks.

I had been dating the Mr. for about 8 months when he finally met my parents. I really liked him at that point and had so much fun with him, but wasn't sure that it was love~ When he met my parents that night, I knew. He got along well with them and it just felt right.

So is sooooooo sweet Rubies! (And so glad you are OK after the accident)

DH knew before I knew, he said I love you and we should get married and have kids. This was when we just met at 18 so I thought he was crazy but he was right!

@chopsuey119: ahaha. how OLD did you think i was?? we have been together for 14 years. i think i have said that. hehehe. (i am 32 in case you really don't want to do math!)

hubby and i reconnected while i was in korea and man, i still remember how giddy i was, waiting for his call or im or email. we had a great first date when i got back and the next day, we went to church together. i just knew he was the one....

also, i knew he was the one when i wanted to share my food with him lol. also, i didn't get grossed out sharing drinks with him lol. i remember i would get so grossed out when my mom would take my drink and drink it! i still don't like sharing things with anyone but hubby.

also, from the beginning, he always put wanting to make me happy first. even though i'm still annoyed at him, love him very much.

Midway through our first date I knew my husband was “the one” – can’t say exactly how or why I knew, just had this different feeling inside, and I had dated enough (including serious, long term living with others relationships) to know *something* was very different.

Still, took us each well over a year to tell the other “I love you”. I don’t think there was one moment where I knew I loved him, it just sort of evolved over time, and got stronger the more I realized that I didn’t feel like I needed him in a selfish or emotionally needy way, but knew how much I absolutely wanted him in my life, forever.

I pretty much knew DH was the one the day we met. In fact I complained to my Mom that day about how all the "good guys" have girlfriends.

One year later he was single and on our fourth date I told him I loved him, thankfully he said it back!

On our second date, we were sitting out on the patio of a bar. A drunk threw an iron chair into the patio. It bounced off the wall and landed on my head. It cracked my head open and as I put my head down, I just saw blood gushing everywhere. I told him to go find my friend C, who was inside the bar at the time. He came back out and held my hand as we waited for the 2 ambulances, 3 fire trucks and 5 police cars to show up. Talk about some force...

Anyways, he rode with me to the hospital, understood my drunk speak and asked them to play the siren for me. He carried my purse around the hospital while he was waiting for me and held my bedpan for me since they wouldn't let me up to pee. He stayed by my side until 6am when I was released. Later that weekend, I came home from work and he had a gift for me - he had re-purchased my white shoes that were ruined by the blood.

That weekend, he got lucky even with my head pain. I got lucky by catching him.

DH and I fell in love extremely fast. I was 19 and home for Christmas break from school in Los Angeles. He was 24 and single, just bought a home and working full time. A mutual friend introduced us while I was there, and we hung out my entire break. I remember thinking that he was soooo sexy, and that nothing would ever come of our hanging out because I never got hot guys! I always went for the more silent, intellectual type. Well, we hit if off instantly!!! After two weeks (the length of my break) of snowboarding, going to his beach house, dinner dates, and meeting each other's families, I went back to school. We talked on the phone for like eight hours one night and we never ran out of anything to talk about. Then, I just knew! I packed up my apartment two days later and moved back into town and transferred colleges so I could be with him. Three years later we got married!

@artbee: oh man, that is so sweet. You puke in a guy's car and he doesn't even mention it. I love that.

@mrs. wagon: I think that when you don't get sick of someone after they've been around a while, that is definitely something romantic. I think we talked about this before but I was always very self-sufficient and figured having him around (living with him) would kill our relationship. It didn't. It was still just as good. Sounds like it was the same for you.
@lilteacherbee: oh, that's so sweet! You fell in love with him in front of the fireworks and then he proposed on the same day 4 years later. I love that!!!
