We met on holiday in China! Three weeks of travelling on overnight trains, food poisoning, monkey bites, rabies shots, hotels with no heating, and a variety of other illnesses set up a pretty strong foundation for our Australia-USA long distance romance!

We attended the Young Adults group at our church. I was first friends with his sister and then after 2 years of being friends we started dating. Married 18 months later and a new lo (aside from my already 8 y/o lo) right after our 1 yr anniversary.

He and my BIL worked together for ten years and were good friends. We happened to end our other long-term relationships around the same time, and happily discovered each other. The best thing I ever did was pursue a relationship with him. It truly changed my life.

We met my senior year of high school in a program called Police Explorers (think Jr Police Academy where you go to competitions... yeah, super dorky I know) I was the Captain and he had just transfered to our post from AZ to go to college in TX. We hit it off immediatly but he had to quit so I wouldn't get demoted because I couldn't technically date anybody in the post... it was drama filled but oh so worth it! We stayed together through going to college an hour away from eachother for 4 years.

We got engaged April of my Jr year in college and married 2 months after I graduated. A year and a half later we are expecting our first!

Work, he got a job at the vet clinic I worked at. We were friends and hiking buddies for the first year. This June is 10 years together, March is our third anniversary, and we have a 13 month old. Best 1/3 of my life!

@Ree723: oh my, quite a bonding experience- what kind of monkey? I need to hear more about that one!

We each had a friend who knew each other. We met at a dinner party! It wasn't a setup though.

@lemondrop: haha, it was quite the experience! It was a macaque that bit my husband on a hike up Mt Emei Shan, which is known for their monkeys. DH was carrying my backpack because I was suffering from food poisoning that day and apparently the monkeys smelled some food I had in my backpack so they tried to grab it. DH swatted the monkey away and the monkey bit his hand, drawing blood. As there was no guarantee that the monkey was not rabid, DH had to get rabies shots for the rest of our trip and then his last one in the States, where he was visiting family after the China trip. Rabies shots in China was quite an interesting experience to say the least!
