We have met some of the neighbors on our new street already (they were outside during our inspection) but we would like to meet neighbors on other streets in our neighborhood, as well. What is the best way to do that? We're looking for kids. It's a scavenger hunt for playmates.

Oh I get it, not a specific house. Just from walking around the neighborhood, going to community events, at the park, story hour. Bumble BFF (seriously) our city's moms group on FB.

@mediagirl: we just met new neighbors at our inspection this weekend too! I was eyeing the kids playing in the front yard and the mom saw me and waved then came over to introduce herself and chat. Following along in hopes of good advice.
My plan so far is to make sure to play a lot in the front yard, not just the back, and go for a lot of walks. Our neighborhood is fully side walked so I'll be able to push the baby in the stroller and let the toddler ride her balance bike or scooter. And I've been checking out what toys people have in their driveways- full size basketball hoop, probably big kids. Little tykes hoop, probably little kids so I'll want to walk by again.

Neighborhood get together. Then we had another one that we hosted for everyone that had small kids. We lived in our house for a year before we really became friendly.

The new neighbors we have met have all come introduced themselves when we've been playing in the front yard.

I spend a lot of time on my front porch and chat up any moms that walk by. Luckily we're a block from the park and pool so a lot of people walk by.
Our street holds an annual yard sale day. We were under contract but not closed when it happened the first year here so we came and said hello to everyone. -
See if there is a FB group - I see people post all the time things like 'Hey, anyone else have a 1st grader?"

Neighborhood pool?

Our neighbors on the street all came over as they saw us outside during our move. There's only one other young kid on our cul-de-sac, so we've met other young families by taking walks around the neighborhood, scoping out streets with lots of toddler toys outside! Also the neighborhood pool on the weekends. We seem to meet more kids the more toys we bring to share at the pool.

At the school playground that's down the street.

We have met people at our local park, library events, taking walks, indoor play gyms, etc. our immediate neighbors came over when they moved in with a plant! (We should have been welcoming them)! Ha. They have become really good friends of ours now!

@Foodnerd81: ha, that's awesome! We were inside doing the inspection and I heard a buzzing sound outside. Went outside to see the inspector using a drone and two neighbor kids watching it. The girl is a year older than our daughter. M ended up going over to their house for a couple of hours. I can't wait to move.

DH is often off during the day and tends to be outside more, so he just met people in our cul de sac as they were coming and going
Then our next door neighbors have parties a couple times a year so we met more people there.
We met some more at our open house. We invited the whole street (about 10 houses).
Is there a neighborhood listserv or group on a site like nextdoor.com? That's the biggest way our neighborhood communicates (and that can include neighboring neighborhoods too)
Our development has a New Neighbors cook out once a year.
