My LO puts on her socks by laying the sock on top of her foot. She puts on her shoes by putting her feet on her shoe.
How do i teach her how to do it? At what age did they learn?

@Freckles: That doesn't mean it's right though. I'm a SAHM so I don't have daycare or preschool telling me what LO should be learning/doing. I just go with what she seems ready for.

LO is almost two and understands the concept that her foot is supposed to go into the sock but she can't actually open the sock and pull it on herself. She "tries" then says, "Mommy do it." Same with her shoes...She can sometimes get her foot into them (if the opening is wide enough) but doesn't yet know how to get her heels in.

They just learn from watching. After a while, they insist on trying themselves. With practice, they eventually get it right. It still takes us forever to get out the door though.

If I pull out a pair of socks, my 17 month old will offer me his foot. He can pull them off but doesn't know how to put them on. He'll lay them on his foot like your daughter. For shoes, sometimes he gets his whole foot in but doesn't understand the concept of buckling/velcroing them to stay on. Although he likes putting on our shoes and clumping around in them.
