Our day care was really supportive! When it looked like DS was ready for big boy undies, they put up with another month of accidents and didn't put him back in diapers unless he had a really bad day. And even when they did, they still made sure to take him to the potty every couple of hours.

Once he moved into the Twos room there is a standard practice for all kids to offer the toilet during diaper changes (every 2 hours). Our son was much more comfortable using the toilet at home than at school. Now he's using the potty at school every diaper change (and receives a marshmallow afterwards which I don't love but whatever). The teacher said now that he's motivated and doing it and sometimes he's dry they will ask him to go more often outside of diaper change time. When he goes for a while with dry diapers then they'll suggest sending him in underwear with a diaper for nap and so on. It's a very gradual, child led process and I like it (plus we do still use our cloth diapers). So if you want to take it easy with your LO, you could try that.

They said, "Send her in undies" so we did. They take her to the potty every hour for a while until she gets the hang of it and wants to go herself. We didn't start until 2 weeks ago at 33 months. She's doing great. She was totally ready.

The first week was rough and messy. The second week was so much better.

We trained at 20 months and it went really well. LO was showing signs of being ready and we did the 3 day method.

We did the 3 day method and just explained it to the daycare teachers and they followed through the best they could for the Friday that we started. DD went to school in regular underwear, and they asked her if she needed to pee very very frequently (but also took her to the potty at regular intervals along with the rest of the potty-trained classmates-- this part is different from the method). I think in this case, watching her peers played a big part. She was only at school for a portion of the day so it worked out fine.

We stuck to the method Friday evening through the weekend and it was done! The following Monday, she wore regular underwear to school and they just asked for extra clothes/sheet, no socks, and waterproof shoes, should there be any accidents.

Overall the daycare is supportive in training how the parents want to (granted they agree the child is ready). The teachers discouraged the use of pull-ups (saying it would draw out the process) but were willing to if we wanted. I think half the parents still do pull-ups to avoid all the extra laundry and stuff.
