My older DD (4 years at the time we told her) was excited, but didn't act at all surprised. My younger DD (2 years at the time we told her) had this hilarious really fake, cheesy grin on her face. It was like she knew she was supposed to be happy, but wasn't totally on board.

When we started talking about TTC again, DH said he'd like for LO to tell him the news ... I got pregnant when she was nearly 3 (2 yrs. 11 m.). We were all laying in bed together, and I whispered to her to say, "I'm going to be a big sister."

The funny thing is, she didn't mentioned it again or respond to that for about 3 weeks. Finally she said it again, asked if there was a baby in my belly, and hasn't really stopped talking about it since. Yesterday she asked, "How's the umbilical cord doing?"

We'll ask if she's excited to be a big sister (yes), and she asks things like if the baby is wearing pajamas.

She seemed very excited. She was almost 2.5 when we told her. We bought her a "Coolest Sister Ever" shirt and she was really excited about the shirt. But we kept talking about it. She did not care at all when we told her it was a little sister, but she loves her now.

DD1 was only 16/17 mo when I got pregnant so she didn't really understand.

LO was 10months when I got pregnant with this one so didn't (/doesn't) understand. But a few days ago I pointed to my stomach and said "baby" and he thought that was hilarious. He now will pull up my shirt, point to my stomach, say "hi baby!" and burst out laughing. It's cute at home but he's done it a few times in public too! And yesterday lifted up his shirt to point at his own tummy, identifying a baby there too. All I've done, I think, is confuse him on body parts.

Lo must have heard us talking about the baby before we were ready to tell her, because she kept asking if I had a baby in my tummy--there was about a month of me saying "not yet" even though I was because we didn't want to tell her/have her tell others until after we got early testing results. So, when we finally told her, she was so excited but I think also relieved since she thought we were! We talk about the baby a LOT now, hopefully she'll still be excited in a couple weeks when baby arrives. It melts my heart when she talks about her sister.

Ours was almost 3 and was so excited. He loved to kiss his brother in my belly and rub it. He even insisted on a certain name for him, and DH actually advocated for it as a middle name and won.

LO1 was 2.5 years old. didn't seem to phase him much either way. he's a cautious little dude.

She was excited! She was almost 3 and definitely understood what we were telling her so that was fun

We were worried that she would be disappointed that it was a boy since she kept saying it was a baby sister but she was actually happy and transitioned to talking about a baby brother seamlessly.

I feel like it's been forever since we told her (8 weeks and I am now 31 weeks) but her excitement has remained steady! We'll see what she thinks when it's a real baby, ha.

They were too little to get it DD1 was 14 months and 27 months each time I've gotten pregnant. For our third she (like everyone else) was confused because we already had a little baby.

DD2 was five months old when I figured it out so she had no clue what was going on.

Following this as ds1 was 7 months old when we got pregnant with ds2. His brother was sort of just something that happened one day and I don't think he remembers a time without him! I'd be curious how both would take it for a third...
