I use Travelocity Farewatcher! I plug in my departing and arrival cities and set a $ for notification.

I always fly southwest because they always seem to have the cheapest flights. I've gotten a lot of free flights with their credit card too..

I've heard that the lowest prices are on Tuesdays.

@septca: I've heard that's when most airlines put sale prices up! And midweek is obviously always the cheapest to fly.

@Mrs. Bee: also do you follow @jetbluecheeps on Twitter? They often post Twitter only deals on Tuesdays for crazy cheap. They usually fly out of major airports like JFK

I just realized my last post didn't make any sense... you want to SEARCH on Tuesday afternoons. Flying mid-week is usually less expensive than flying on weekends, but that's not what I meant. Airlines post the cheapest flights on Tuesday afternoons, so that is always when I buy tickets.

@LindsayInNY: Yes, I have been burned before - I would see a good price Tuesday, and it would be gone that night or the next morning. That said, the prices you see on Wednesday morning are likely to be better than the prices you will see on Friday of that same week.

I've also heard that the more times you search for the same flights on the same IP address the more expensive the flights become and that sometimes searching from a non-apple device can give you a better price. I have no idea if that's true or not, but I'm tempted to believe the multiple searches one.

@stine_ciro: I heard that about apple products a few years ago. I wonder if it's still true.
