My DD (5 months) sleeps late...from 10pm-10am. She sleeps through the night though (which is awesome) but it would be ideal if her schedule was 8pm-8am. So how do I shift it? Do I wake her up at 8am from now on and try to shift it that way?

Ekk that could be tough. We are on the opposite end with her sleeping from 7-5 but would like to get it more like 8-6. Its not as simple as pushing her bedtime back.
What is her latest nap? Maybe try cutting out a late afternoon nap?

@Thehistoryofus: Right now she naps 3 times: 12-2, 4-5, and then 7-8. She always wakes up at 8 and wants to play! If I try to put her back to sleep, she gets super fussy. So I usually play with her until she gets sleepy (which is usually 10pm).

I would probably try to shift everything up in small increments. Like move everything up 15 minutes every other day so after a couple weeks you'll hopefully be more around the 8-8 schedule.

@MamaMoose: So I should try to wake her up earlier maybe? If she usually wakes up at 10am, I should wake her up at 9:45am?

Yup. That's what I would do. Wake her at 9:45 and then put her down for her nap at 11:45.

@banana: I agree, I wouldn't wake her up at 8 am, but just in slow increments would be best. I think after 6 months my LO dropped that third nap.

I agree small increments have worked best for us, just be prepared that it might take a while. Every time we do a sleep adjustment I feel like it's one step forward two steps back..

@Baby Boy Mom: sigh. that's what I'm afraid of. I'll take it slow and steady. hope homegirl adjusts to her new schedule well!
