Oh no! I just went through this because our kitten was pissed at us when we went out of town. She rewarded our housesitter by peeing on the bed right next to her head.

I started by using a damp towel with bleach and scrubbing the area. Blotting up as much urine as possible. Then I let it air out and dry mostly. Sprinkled with baking soda and let sit. Then vacuumed that up. Then scrubbed it again with the upholstery cleaner I use in my car. Then dried. Then spritzed dilute vinegar. Then dabbed and let dry.

It was a long process and puppy pee is probably not as bad so you may not need all of the steps!

This happens to us more than I would care to admit because our pup has some stomach issues. I think that all of the steps that you did are great. I am partial to the arm and hammer spray cleaner, but we have natures miracle too.

@MrsBrewer: you could maybe air it out for a day or two, then flip the mattress! And then stand it up during the day to air out the other side...

Either way, I'd get a waterproof mattress pad!

i've been using a resolve foam carpet cleaner for my cat's barfing issues lately and it has done a GREAT job cleaning up the mess

Nature's Miracle is what I use when my cats pee on something and it is great. Stay it on the mattress and let it sit for a few minutes then rub it off. If you can take the mattress outside and let it air dry that's the best route, but if you can't try to open all the windows in your room and air dry it that way. Good luck.

@mrsbrewer, I think so! it just foams up, you let it sit on and then scrub off with a little water. My carpet didn't have a huge wet ring or anything

@MrsBrewer: we let it dry overnight each time. Luckily we have our old queen mattress in the guest suite that we could use for a couple days. Know that when you vacuum the baking soda it smells like a really smelly teenage boy cast!
