I've got a wicked stomach bug and it's all I can do to stay awake. I feel like I'm being the worst momma ever because I just don't have it in me to entertain dd (9 months) today.
What are your tips for surviving illness as a SAHP?

I was sick a couple weeks ago and C watched a LOT of TV that day, I'm not gonna lie. I set out a bowl of snacks and she watched TV and played by herself. I was so sick I couldn't even feel guilty about it.
I had a stomach bug last year when she was little and she chilled in her pack and play with some toys most of the day and I got near her as little as possible. I didn't want her to get sick.... Which she did anyway and had it worse than I did. I begged DH to stay home, but he couldn't get out of work that day.
If possible, can your DH stay home and give you a break? Not only because you're sick, but because you don't want your munchkin to get sick too.

I hope you feel better. I was sick a few times during my maternity leave and I did the bare minimum around the house and I napped when the kids slept.

when I'm sick, I'll take the kids in DD's room, close the door and lie down while they play next to me.
once DS goes down for his nap, I'll try to zzz too.
hope you feel better!

I have a cold, and we've had a couple days now where we just hung out on the bed with toys, and I nursed her (sometimes to sleep) every time she was bored. I'll deal with the consequences later.

Anyone you can take her to? Parents? IL's? Siblings? Friends!? haha. I would do anything. I know if I don't give L quite a bit of attention he gets super cranky, so I don't know how I would deal with this except try and have someone come over or go to someones house so I could rest while they entertain my kid. no shame.

I usually lie on the playroom floor and they crawl on me. Hang in there!

I let her watch a TON of TV, eat pretty much anything she wants since it entertains her, and I don't stress about the mess. I nap when she naps.

Feel better soon. We were all sick last week and we watched a lot of TV. I just didn't have the energy for much else.

@sunny: did you guys get the stomach bug? Everyone around me is getting it...I am so afraid. Hope you're all better soon!
Honestly, if I'm super sick I call my parents. One time I was up all night so sick and there was no way my husband could take the day off so I called my mom and begged her to come over in the morning. It was the biggest help having her come over. I've only had to do this once thank goodness

I went through this a couple of weeks ago with my 9 month old and no one I could call on, it was awful! There were lots of cartoons involved.

Ugh, it's the worst. I had my mom help me take care of LO when I had the flu for the week, but it was really only for playtime because I had to nurse every 3 hours & put her down for a nap 1.5 hrs later, since she wouldn't let my mom put her down. The 1 hour between feedings & naps I would try to rest. Nights were the worst because I was the only one who could do wakeups - I honestly regretted having a baby for the first time, I was so miserable. Can you have someone come help you? I would even hire a babysitter. No matter what though, it sucks so much but you will get better even though you think you never will!

@sandy: thankfully it was just a cold. It was a nasty one though... DH was sick enough that he took 2.5 days off work which he never does.

Last time I was sick, it was a day I was supposed to work - so I still have my brother come and watch J from 8-4. It helped so much! I was so sick that I likely would have called my mom or sister for help if my brother couldn't have come. There is just no way I could have watched a toddler.
In the past when it was less severe - I just let him watch a lot of TV!
