My DH should be a junior but his parents didn't want 'junior' as part of his name so they left it off.

I kinda wish he had a junior on his name because we have gotten mail and calls from his Dad's bills.

Anyway, we decided we didn't want our child to be a 'third'. So we are not continuing that tradition.

I don't think parents are egotistical if they have a junior. I think if a name is important to you, you could use the name again.

Oh my DH name has two nicknames from one name. So his dad was one name and the DH was another.

Sorta like the name Elizabeth, where the nickname Liz or Beth can be used. So there was no need to actually use Junior.

My FIL and husband have the same name, the only difference is that my husband has a middle name and FIL has NO middle name.
Whenever we've applied for loans, his dad's credit comes up. When we got our first apartment, we started getting his mail AND my MIL's mail. We even got phone calls, and since I lived with my parents right before getting married- even THEY got phone calls for MIL! Weird, right?

So we decided it was way too much of a pain/hassle and we didn't want to do that to our son. So no double names.

My husband and his son (my stepson) have the exact same name and it just leads to confusion. There's no way to shorten it, so I don't know what they'll do as he gets older. Just glad that I won't have to deal with talking him out of the idea if we have a LO

DH is a 3rd generation of his name (though he has different middle names, yes, nameS!). I am not at all a fan of juniors, I don't really understand it I guess. I've never met mother that named a daughter after herself, and kids take the fathers last name usually, so I guess I don't understand the appeal. But, with that said, it's important to DH's family, so we will follow their tradition of naming after the father if we have a boy someday and call him by his middle name. I do feel a little bad about how much I dislike this name., DH took a lot if crap for his name & yet we still plan on using it, lol

I love my dh's name and we considered giving our son dh's name.

My DH is a Jr. and I personally don't like it. His name and his dad's name are very common - so whenever we go anywhere there's about 15 of them in the room. Plus, I call his parents by their 1st names, which becomes pretty confusing when they're trying to decide if I'm talking to DH or FIL. Anyway - yeah, really not for me (aka our LO will not be a 3rd...although I get that question a lot).

My DH is a Junior and we are considering naming our LO (if a boy) after him. It is his first choice but I'm pushing for another. Especially since his dad lives with us. They both go by the same nickname so it'd be confusing! We'dThanfully we just came up with another family name that DH loves so that is a huge contender...even though it is much more popular than we originally wanted. All this to say is that I don't mind Juniors (though I agree with everyone else that for bills/credit/what not my FIL shows up instead of DH). Good luck!
