I only have monogrammed blankets and I love them. I don't think I would like monogrammed clothing for my LOs.

I LOVE monogram stuff, but only get special things monogrammed

I hate it. For adults, for babies, for kids, for pets. I hate it. haha. I don't care if other people do it, but my stuff needs to stay un-lettered.

I love mongrams... I have a bunch of LOs stuff monogrammed, blankets, boppy, towels, clothes, hats, pottery barn chair.

I'm meh also. I agree that for a very special, keepsake item it would be fine. For every day clothing/diaper bag/etc... no, I'm not a fan.

I love it! But I am from the South, and we monogram everything there:)

Eta: I just think it looks "neater" if I see a baby with monogrammed stuff. It takes it up a notch?

I'm okay with it being on blankets or towels, but not so much on clothing.

Hate it. Except for special keepsakes, like her first baby blanket that she can pass on to her daughter or something.
It is very 1990s to me.

Oh man, I’m glad to see others hate monogramming – I thought I was the only one! I don’t see the point – I know LO’s name, everyone else knows her name. She knows her name. To me, a little goes a very long way. One item can be cute; but when you’ve got almost every item monogrammed; it starts to look real tacky real quick. It’s also a safety issue for older kids for sure.

Don't like it at. all! I'm in the South too (Texas) but luckily haven't received anything monogrammed. I could see possibly monogramming one the blankets made for lo but that's only for keepsake purposes & would likely be done before it was put away to store, so we'd always know which lo it belonged to.

I said Meh, only cause I don't mind a couple things. Like someone gave us a silver pacifier holder, and I need to get her initial monogrammed on it. But that is something that can be a keepsake.

But I am not a fan of the names on shirts, bibs, burb clothes, and blankets. Seriously have had like 10 people complain that we won't tell them the name, cause they wanted something monogrammed. I just hope we don't get it all after she is born.

It never even occurred to me that some people may not like monogram ing/embroidery!

I just sent DH's best friend a beautiful monogrammed PBK blanket for their newborn! I never even thought twice about it!

I agree that for safety reasons I would not put my child in something embroidered with their full name on it.

However, a few pieces of clothing with her initials (monogram) I can live with. I agree that keepsake pieces like a blanket are cute monogrammed but not when everything has it on it!

@allison: OMG. I am not a southerner. I moved down here 8 years ago and went to a craft fair put on by the Junior League? Pink, polka dots, ribbons, bows and monograms threw up all over that craft fair. I couldn't escape fast enough.....

I have a lovey that has my daughter's name on it. Not her initials, just her name. I'm cool with that. And only that.

I love monograms-just the initials though. One personalized piece in a nursery can go a long way. Remember adding your initials to your backpack in grade school?

I had my DD's PB anywhere chair monogrammed, and that was it. I have seen it in excess and it's really not my style.

I think it's cute for special baby stuff: blankets, towels, etc. but I much prefer an initial monogram over the whole name.
Same for adults, though I don't have anything monogrammed yet. I'd love to get some towels or sheets initial monogrammed, but I'm on the West Coast and have to admit it's very rare to see anyone with monogrammed stuff!
