Do you love owning a pet? Are you merely tolerant, etc?
I enjoy owning a dog even though it can be a lot of time, effort and money. We want to add another pet in a few years.

I love my dog, she was my 1st kid
- although it has been harder since we had kids - she doesn't get nearly enough attention =(

We love having our cat, although she is a pain in my rear and worse than my toddler sometimes! We love her though

I love 2 of our 3 cats, the other one I just tolerate.
D is crazy in love with 1 of them....she's his little girl
He gets jealous when she decides to sleep on me!

We currently don't have a pet. We rescued a Great Dane a few years back, but after he tried to attack my sister, we returned him to the rescue group. We've decided to hold off on pets for a few years. LO is 3 months and we aren't sure when well have the next, so I don't think we're in any rush. We will be getting an English Bulldog though...cannot waaaait.

I LOVE pets. But I don't think we will own one ever again. Its too much work to care for a pet properly. And I don't want them in my house. And I don't want to be limited in my travels because of a pet. And I don't want to bring my pet with me to public places or other peoples' house. BUT.... I love them sooooo much.

I think dogs are good company and hope to always have one in our home. My dog makes me laugh every day.

i love dogs more than i like most people... we're waiting to get one until we have a house. don't want a small dog, and our apartment is too small for a big one.

I love my dogs. I can't imagine not having one.

For me, I feel like they are too much work. I'm highly allergic to cats so I'm glad DH has never been into cats. DH would love a dog but I have no interest right now with a LO that barely lets us sleep as it is.
I'll probably cave one day, but not until we live in a place with a back yard where a dog can get some exercise and go to the bathroom without us having to actually take him for walks all the time. Aint nobody got time for that right now.

I love my dogs but now that I have a child, I find it's more of me tolerating them. They are a lot of work. But I have 3 large dogs so that's make a difference too.

@BakerBee: ha! That's what I tell DH - love me, love my dog! I had my dog before my DH so you know...the dog wins

I love my dog! But he has been a big strain on us financially and mentally. He just has a lot of issues. We will probably not have another pet after him. They require a lot of work!

I loved my pug and miss him so much ( we put him down in June). We desperately want to get another one, but with LO #2 on the way and being out of the house for 12+ hours we don't think it'll be fair to the new dog.

I have a love/hate relationship with our dogs. They are big and dumb and loveable, but they also wreck stuff (hardwood floors!) through no fault of their own. DH and I agree that we'll only ever have 1 dog at a time in the future, and they'll be non-shedding and much smaller.

We love our dogs but they're certainly more stress and don't get as spoiled now that we have j. I feel like a bad dog-momma.
pomelo / 5469 posts
DH has always pestered me about getting a cat or a dog, but I've said no because I know who will end up looking after it!! Now LO is here I don't know how people manage especially with a dog that also needs attention throughout the day. There's also the issue of finding a kennel or someone to look after them whilst we go on holiday. It would be nice to have a dog one day...but maybe when the kids have moved out!

love our little babies. i wish they didn't shed so much, but i couldn't imagine life without them. i was a little worried about how we'd all transition after LO arrived, but luckily things have been good.

I love my dog far too much, me thinks. His needs are obviously second to LO's, but he is an official part of our household. Our family would not be the same without him!

Don't like them and I'm patiently awaiting the day they are gone. I constantly imagine my life without them. I'm sure I will miss them when they are gone but the last 5 years they have ruined so much shit and sometimes make me not want to come home. I'm tired of my shit being peed and pooped on and LO's books and toys being peed and pooped on. What they need is someone who has more time, a bigger home with way more windows, and the money to pay for Prozac (or separate homes for them). I refuse to pay for Prozac for a cat.
ETA: If any of you cat lovers would like a cat, I will pay for shipping.

I can't imagine ever not owning a dog
We both grew up in families that always had pets around and the only time when we didn't have pets was when we were in college and for the first few years of working -- even then we got a dog when we lived in an apt where we weren't supposed to have animals, whoops! Our dog will always be our first baby

I love my dog but as a whole I am meh about pets. If my husband hadn't insisted I would never have one. We will probably always have a dog though, and he is an awesome companion, I feel safer with him and he pushes us to spend more time outside and waking which is certainly good for our health.

I love our dog!! My mom kind of "kidnapped" him when we asked her to baby sit for a week many years ago so he lives with her now (plus none of us kiddos live near home anymore). We'd love to get a dog again in the near future!

I loved having pets growing up and will likely end up with more pets once we move to a house, but I am pretty meh about them right now. The idea of having another thing to take care of everyday just doesn't excite me. Hubs just convinced me to get fish and I only agreed because he promised to do all the work. LO loves them though, so more pets are definitely in my future.

I always have and always will have a pet. I prefer dogs to cats personally, but I have owned both. We currently have a small dog named Leroy. I love just having him around for company. Yes, he takes time and money, but he's worth it.

@mrsjazz: Awww!
Does your DH have cat blinders?
coconut / 8234 posts
@autumnlove: He is working on trying to find them a new home. VERY slowly. I already exhausted my options so it's up to him. He knows I won't have another baby with those cats in the house. But we both don't want them to go to a shelter so it's a slow process.

We have a dog and he was our little baby until LO came along. I often feel bad for him because he doesn't get the attention he used to and I don't think he's too into LO even though she's very into him!

I prefer cats to dogs. My husband is allergic to cats (and dogs, but lesser to dogs than cats). After this dog, I think we're done for a while...

I love our two bratty dogs. One is 4 lbs and sleeps all day and is very easy. The other is 85 lbs and just turned one. He's got a ton of energy so he's a bit of work. But he's super sweet.

I don't have an actual kiddo yet, but I can't imagine life without my dogs! We have a big guy (85lbs) and a little girl (15lbs) and they are our babies!

I have two cats and a dog. I prefer cats. I love my dog very much, but I really struggled when we got her because dogs are needier than cats. My cats, I can make sure they have clean litter and enough food/water, and they are good to go. But with the dog, I have to walk her, feed her, etc. I love her, it's just a ton of work, especially now with a baby.

My dog is my baby. I always warn my SO when he complains about her that I would send him packing before I ever got rid of her!! He loves her too, but he has less patience with her than I do.
