This brought to my attention because there so many people on my Facebook and twitter making comments like who cares about the president when the world is going to end on 12/21/12. Do you believe that the world will end, if not by the Mayan calendar, how do you think it will end? Are you prepared for some sort of doomsday?

I don't believe the world is going to end in December. I don't believe in a doomsday. I believe that Jesus is coming back one day, and I am prepared for that.

I don't really care either way. If the world ends, I wouldn't be around to have to worry about it!
What would suck is if Skynet took over and terminators slowly killed the humans. That would be a lot slower and more painful.

I think people fixate on this type of thing because it is easier to imagine that when you die, the entire world ends...as opposed to the likely reality in that you will die and the world will move on without you in it. I think that is really hard for people to accept and acknowledge.

I do not believe it is going to end this December. I do believe it will end eventually, but probably not in our lifetime (maybe by an asteroid hitting the Earth?)

@lawbee11: My money goes on the Yellowstone Caldera waking up at some point. Although, the last near extinction volcanic event was 75K years ago, so we could be good for quite a while longer.

plus the calendar was done ages before "leap years" so technically the world should have ended at the begininng of last year i believe...

I don't believe in any type of doomsday or religious Armageddon scenario. I believe in science. I do think there's a distinct possibility there could be a large-scale disaster along the lines of a meteor, a nuclear incident, or a climate-related scenario, where humans and much life would be decimated... But as for "the world" ending, I think it'll just keep spinning along like it did through dinosaurs and before and after. I prefer not to pontificate about when something like that might happen because it kind of freaks me out.

I read a cute thing on Facebook a while back that because the Mayan's never accounted for leap year, that it should have happened a couple years ago.

I am also due on 12/21, and I don't believe in the whole May and end of days thing.
@Mr. Bee- totally agreed on the Skynet thing! A zombie apocalypse would also be terrible.
