1. Water,, water, water. Set an alarm on your phone.
2. Eat a high protein breakfast. You need your strength.
3. Crush a clove of garlic. Let it sit for ten minutes. Put it in a teaspoon of honey and swallow whole.
4. Boil cinnamon, ginger, lemon juice in water. Mix with honey. Drink hot.
5. Neti pot, neti pot, neti pot.
6. Wash all sheets and towels. Give the bathroom a good once over. Make DH throw his tissues away. Wash your hands after every nose wipe for LO.
7. Get some chicken noodle soup for dinner.
8. Gargle with salt water.
9. Hot tea. Green or black in the morning, chamomile at night.
10. Tell yourself you won't get sick. Convincing yourself you will makes it worse. Even if you don't believe if, say it out loud.

My doctor told me to take zinc and pro-biotics as soon as I feel something coming on. So far, it's worked. Also, lots of water and rest. The rest part is always harder for me but I try! Hope you feel better and that's it's a non-event!

Don't drink any alcohol, try and sleep in/get an early night when possible, drink copious amounts of Lemsip (not sure what the US equivalent is--lemon/paracetamol powder that dissolves in hot water). This is what I'm doing at the moment to get rid of my sore throat before I completely lose my voice!

I felt this last week and immediately bought the Emergen-C chewables and took four of them, two times a day until the bottle was empty (about five days). The little tickle in my throat never turned into a cold!

@babyjmama: I take the Zicam (oral spray) as directed as soon as I feel cold symptoms. It really lessens the severity and length of the symptoms

The only thing that works for me is tons of rest, lots of liquids and take your vitamins and eat healthy foods. I'll still get sick but at least it won't be as bad or last as long.

I agree with all of this advice. I also take extra fish oil and add in grapefruit seed extract and NOW Allibiotic Non-Drowsy CF. I especially like the Allibiotic.

How are you feeling?
If you did get sick, I recommend some Badger Balm chest rub, peppermint and eucalyptus essential oils in a washcloth at the bottom of the shower, keep drinking lots of water and try the neti pot!

I take either Zicam or Airborne at the first sign and then supplement with lots of Vitamin C and LOTS of sleep. I'm a freak, I go into a coma for, like, 12-16 hours and I'm feeling awesome the next day. I rarely get fully sick.

I take ColdEaze zinc lozenges (i SWEAR by them), try to get as much sleep as I can, and use the NetiPot religiously in the shower. I hope you fight it off quick!
